Ook. Sorry to be all naggy but are we most probably looking at the weekend of the 20th?

I do have other commitments I annoyingly forgot about on that weekend but I can still come out for a ride/play. I may have to leave the route part way through though, depending on what time we start/etc. Ideally I need to be home by about 4pm :s

Ok I have two potential loans of bikes, sadly neither have a climbing cassette but will just have to manage!

^I just can't sleep past it, and hate lying in!

I take it most people don't want an 8am start :p?

How many gears are you talking? Maybe someone can lend you a suitable cassette for the day. If someone's coming in by car it's not too much of a burden to bring a chain whip and lockring tool and just swap it on and off at either end of the day...

And yeah, if we're kicking off from Stockport or wherever, then 9am is a good bet as physichull, [Damien] and I will all take a while getting there.

So are we doing the 20th or the 21st? I'd much prefer the 20th personally.

I guess in regards to routes we should also get an idea of how much people hate busy A roads. Personally I am not a fan of the A6 and I'd prefer to take a nicer route to get to the climbs but obviously if I'm in the minority I'll just go with the flow.

Also talking about routes, once we've got the above down I guess choosing the actual route is a good plan. I'm fairly happy with most of what Von posted though it might be a bit long for me personally given my time constraints - obviously that isn't a reason for it to be changed and I'll just head back when I need to.

Yeah I would prefer the saturday personally. Could ask a mod to change the poll to sat/sun?

Not fussed about A roads unless its as busy as the A14, which is essentially a motorway.

3 out of 6 so far in favour of the Saturday :)

If we were to chop miles off the route personally I'd suggest we skip going into Macc and instead go from the top of Pott Shrigley through to Pyms and then Goyt. From there we can get up to the C&F easily, or just go straight east towards Buxton.

edit: Also, despite my earlier "it'd be a shame to miss out Col du Mellor" it may be worth just coming back a more direct route as going down CdM isn't amazing. The climb up from New Mills would be "fun" though...
