I was promised an army of slaves.. I mean community helpers!
So dammit I'm making it to scale. (to what scale i have no idea my ruler broke)
Also while this chamberis being designed and decorated it should hopefully be enoguh time to get the franky epic amounts of tnt needed fopr the cavern.
I've already figured out a reasonable tunnel layout for the tnt, which would produce a large chamber, a slight canyon (which will have lava etc and be what the bridge goes over) a large deeper "moat" around a central raised island.
This is what i'm working towards for the outside
that way the city will be on the "island" the bridge over and the cliffs+ lava below (and the city wall coming out of the cliff face) means that the many many many caves that will intersect the cavern can be left unlit/unblocked off for exploring/atmosphere with n worry of mobs.
One thing though, once the caves are made I'd be happier if no one entered them while the tnt is being laid as it's going to be thousands of blocks of tnt being put in them and them being set off early would ruin the whole thing. (and require it filled in and relaid)
Also It's probably going to need a world save before being set off as it may crash the server
So lads I'd say 1 week-2 weeks to get as much sand as you can muster to make the tnt.
by then the entrance hall will be done the caves dug and ready to be filed with tnt.
what i'm thinking for the cave layout is this.
the black box is the current entrance hall, the little black line a little corridor then.
The thick red circle will be a 3x3 passageway filled with tnt 1 block below the level of the thin red lines.
the thin red lines will be 2x2 corridors willed with tnt (there may be some extra lines placed above/below) (roughly 10 blocks apart)
the thick orange line will be a 5x4 tunnel of tnt at the same level as the red lines.
The thin lines will make most of the chamber the thick outer ring will make the trench around the "island" and the orange line the canyon the bridge spans.
As you can imagine this will be several double chests worth of tnt.
And also you can see why i'd be paranoid about someone tping in and accidentally setting one off half way though.
So if it's ok with rad i was thinking some time late night early morning after all the tunnels are dug and tnt made world save then we go in and lay all the tnt down link it up and then set it off, so if anything bad happens no one loses any work.
hen it's the mammoth task of lighting it up controlling the water flows and removing any flowing lava or water sources, getting the moat it better filled with lava (I'm thinking the lava used in the lighting of the city could "drain" out of the walls (in reality it would just go into the wall and then probably a separate source drain out but it would look right)
then getting the outline of the city done and the bridge built.
What you guys think?
