OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

Sigh.. griefed again. This time by someone called gonzoxl5. I won't be on the server until Monday - hence posting here instead...

Had 2 pumpkins stolen from my pumpkin block. You can check it at this location:

I would like them back because I've ran out as it is. Either from the player concerned or if they're not on much then from rollback please.

He also removed this pumpkin as well, but did replace it, so not too bothered about that.

Judging by the summary (if its true (it sounds like it is)) it was probably his kid... so keep him on a leash :P

Hi,

very sorry - have had a chat with the young man and this won't happen again, once we're reinstated onto the white list I'll make sure the pumpkins are returned to your area.

No problem! Thanks for getting back to me :)

Also FT, not sure if it's a placebo effect... but Im having a lot of trouble finding sheep at the moment.

I think I know why people may be seeing less animals about than usual, it reminds me of a UO (ultima online) spawning problem back in the day. It relates to our new PETS.

Essentially as you kill a group of animals in any given area, a new group of animals will spawn nearby after x amount of minutes. I repeatedly do this around my house, which is how I eventually managed to obtain 20 or so wolves however MC can only spawn so many creatures within an x block radius of the player. I rarely see any mobs now, let alone sheep night or day.

If I was however to kill my army of pets, the spawn should return to normal in my area.

So the wolves persist even when you logout + come back the next day? That's quite cool, though yeah, can imagine it would mean that spawns would be heavily reduced.

I have 9 wolfs, yet there is always tons of mobs and animals around my castle?

I had typical spawn around my area until I hit about 15 odd wolves, which was last night. Then for about 3 solid day/night transitions I saw nothing, not even mobs. There could be some other experiences regarding this on the offician MC discussion forums methinks.

I've had the same amount of wolfs for about a week now, but ive just logged on and there is nothing spawning at all, whereas it was fine last night, the only mob spawning is slimes.

There are no more wolfs around my area than there was last night or for the last few days, so i dont think this is connected with wolfs.

Infact there are so many slimes in my cellar that i think they are making up for all the other mobs that are not spawning.

I'm not sure it's due to the dogs. It seems linked to the number of players on the server. If you log on when there are 20 people online, you get a huge number of mobs spawning all over the place...... more than the last server or single player. If you log on when there are only 1-2 people on the server, there are almost no mob spawns at all.

Have a look this evening, and see if things change when more people logon.
