OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

Personaly i think any unlocked chest is fair game :p

If people dont lock there chests its there own fault.

if there was an unlocked chest i wouldn't steal anything though, as i do have some unlocked chest but nothing of significant value, unless you want tons of dirt and cobblestone.

the whole point of this though is that you shouldn't have to lock your chests, unfortunately there are ppl on the server that would either destroy your work or steal iron/gold/diamond that you spent hours mining.

Not really, I put unprotected chests up in my various projects, don't really expect, nor have I had, people stealing from them. It's quite funny leaving a chest unprotected in your house or near the spawn and then using BB to see who has looked in it!

Shame about the nether, but you have had to spend ages on various issues with the server so there is no need to cause more. I'm pretty sure lots of people will have some going spare to give away. I bet Hind has a ton after the amount of tunnelling he has done in the nether!

I'd go for unlocked chests outside of houses are fair game but inside it's a bit off.

The main complaint about the furnaces last night seemed to be the stealing/use of coal which is something I wouldn't consider a real problem as it's not as if it's hard to find. Anyone near my house is welcome to use the furnaces that are well stocked with coal if they need to smelt some ore, or even pinch a bit of coal for torches. In fact thinking about it I may just make an emergency box outside with a sword, pickaxe, torches and food in it for wandering people in trouble.

Coal is understandible aslong as they didn't steal the whole lot, but i think the question is where do you draw the line, as it differs from one player to the next, i think the main rule of the thumb would be that anything that is taken for resources should be replaced, that way you would always have supply of coal/ore ect...

lets say for example you built a chest of diamond pickaxes which was open to everyone, would you expect.

A) people to take as many as they want, but they didn't replace.
B) Take one
C) Any items they take replace.

I guess we'll limit the slime spawns then. Perhaps try /crowd replace slime skeleton 70 ?

Then do a /nuke slime to help drive it home.

the problem is killing a slime spawns 4+ more smaller slimes, even nuking you have to do a full cycle.

ie nuke 60

then nuke the 200+ then the 600 then the 800 then it'll go back down.

sheep wouldn't be affected by this though as there's independent caps on hostile and friendly mobs, i guess it depends on if a dog counts as friendly.

Can't you just nuke all? I normally do it without a number and it kills them. Or is it a case of just having to nuke the small slimes that spawn from nuking the large slimes?

Btw, can you comment /re gundog :p

yeah if you nuke the large slimes you then have to nuke the large number of medium slimes then you have to nuke the 800+ small slimes :p

A combination of B) if it was used for the benefit of the server with little personal gain, or C)if it for them to use themselves.

We should probably have a community chest at spawn with basic iron tools and torches for newcomers to use on the understanding that they're replaced with new ones once they had spare materials.

that does sound like a good idea, i think we did this before on whindles old server, but not really sure how it turned out to be a success or not.

You'll find that I am what can be described as a snooper- almost every unlocked container I come across I have a peek in!

Anyway, I took some sand over at the sand fortress place to repair a creeper hole which may or may not have been caused by me :) He wasn't about at the time so I would have asked otherwise. At the gamon's place (it's the log building with the minecarts right?) I was once again exploring and went with two others on minecarts to the place for the night. Smelted clay in one and a little iron in the other. It's not like there is much of any value I would get from furnaces anyway.

As I said, you'll find I peek in most unlocked chests so don't be surprised if you find a lot more! I'd be a mug to steal from people as I know the mods can find out easily and I will have wasted the many hours I have put into various projects.

BTW, any idea when the nether will be back? Building a hell-cave thing so am after netherrack, soul sand etc.

The furnaces were checked after it was reported that coal had been removed from them, the only person other than the owner to access them was you.

Please return any coal you removed or used.

fab also reported a tool + some iron taken from his chest which also had you listed as accessing them.

if you removed anything from those chests i suggest you return the items.

Snooping does leave you open to accusations, so best not to or to ask first.

I was slightly miffed when I went home to smelt stuff to find my furnaces without fuel but wasn't particularly bothered and its certainly not worth banning someone over.
Do try to exercise common courtesy when exploring peoples houses though :)

I certainly didn't take the coal although I may have used some in smelting, maybe I used it all? Anyway, I'll go put a stack in each as I have plenty! If someone can direct me to the sand fortress I'll put back the sand I used for repairs too. Yeah, probably best not to snoop, but it's hard to resist :)
