I've set up an auto harvesting farm for everyone to use. It is really easy and allows you to collect 47 wheat in one go. You can get there by doing /home gundog48, and it's safe BTW :)

Really simple to use. All you have to do is look in the chest and grab some seeds and bonemeal. Then simply sow the tilled area in the recessed parts and then 'ripen' them with bonemeal. Once that is done, flick the lever and the floodgates will open, make sure all the loot has washed to the end of each channel before closing them. Then simply go down the ladder in one of the corners and collect everything. Put at least 47 seeds back in the chest then go make some bread!

I would prefer it if you wouldn't replant after harvesting as the chances are some cow will decide to fall in there and mess it up, there is also a hoe in the chest if that does happen.

When the colosseum is finished I may improve it to double the capacity by mirroring it. It is hard to simply add another channel as it can only go as far as the water can reach. Anyway, enjoy!
 
I have been playing minecraft about 2 weeks now and can say I have become addicted. Signed up to the website ect. Hope to find an online home. if I get accepted cyas there :).

Hey nutty, welcome on board :). Please make sure you have read the OP before you start playing. Any questions or if you aren't sure of anythig just ask :).
 
Update due out this week. As usual, it's likely that Bukkit won't be updated for at least a day after the update comes out.

As Nether is supposed to be supported in the new update can I ask people to move their current items out of the Nether BEFORE the update. It's extremely likely that the Nether will be wiped.
 
Well I'll be up until at least 9am. So if it crashes again I can always restart :).

Ladies/Gents - if it does crash, just message me via linktart, I should spot the message notification in my emails then :).
 
Hey guys, thanks for asking me about the spawn monstrosity I've left behind. I'm in the middle of exams hence the absence, I hereby donate my gold/silver/diamond structure and all the possessions there to toString, FT, or any passer by (free for all). The place is visible at spawn, please help yourselves and take over the area/raid&pillage as I won't be able to return for about a month - When I do return I'll return from scratch.

I'm not bothered if it's moved, but it would be more productive I think if people use the materials for themselves.

I'll just say this folks, remember only take from iamtakeo's place no one else's, o if you're not sure if it's part of his build or someone else check with a wooden pick.

and clean it up where you're done, don't just remove the good stuff and leave a bunch of floating dirt and stone clean it down to normal level and tidy up.
 
A simple couple of questions for someone hopefully:

A fantastic example of minecart track:



Orange squares are un-powered power-rails, red squares are powered power-rails. I jump in my cart at A, press a button which powers the power-rail and my cart shoots along happily to B. Can someone tell me...

1 - How can I get the cart to stop along the track (at the powered rails or elsewhere) for a few seconds to allow me to jump out if I want and if I don't jump out, for it to carry on as it was. I used to be able to use signs with [Hold for 5] but they didn't work last time I tried (possibly before the minecart addon was removed)

2 - If I decide after starting the cart, how I can get it to branch off and go to C without stopping and baring in mind that the track may be very very long between A, B and C (in this example).

This is a total stab in the dark and I'm not sure if it would work, but you could try using a detector rail linked to a booster via redstone repeaters... set the repeaters to the slowest speed so the power signal doesn't reach the powered rail till a few seconds after you pass over the detector.

to do this you will need 5 x set of 3 repeaters (as 2 at 4 and 1 at 1) gives 1 second of delay so to get a 5 second delay to work you will need 5 sets.

FT, meant to tell you this last night but didn't get the time. I was playing for a little while last night working on the Colosseum, I was donated a lot of sandstone and dirt and also had a gold block and a diamond pick and shovel in my invent along with some other random stuff you tend to have. Think I had some netherrack and a flint and steel from doing the edge of the colosseum too. Anyway, I logged off and came back a little later to find my inventory totally empty! No real reason for it, had the stuff, logged off logged back in and found it completely empty!

Someone suggested that my player.dat may have been accidentally deleted or something, never heard it happen before though. Any chance I could get some of the stuff back. Fortunately I wasn't carrying much of value apart from my diamond pick and shovel and gold block which I don't care about too much. Mainly concerned with getting my sandstone and dirt back as it is a little difficult to get hold of in great quantities without a lot of digging, especially as they were donated. Would be a bonus to get my netherrack and flint and steel back. Rest of the stuff I won't miss as I don't even know what else I had.

A quick list of stuff if you plan on reimbursing me!

  • 6 stacks of sandstone
  • 4-5 stacks of dirt
  • Diamond pick
  • Diamond shovel
  • Stack of netherrack
  • Flint and steel

If you could give them to me it would be ace! Very strange though, reckon we are suffering a little instability what with that world hole, crashing and now this? Pretty strange- hopefully 1.6 will fix it!
