OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

I really should erect a larger fence around it in the short term since if you fall it in your inventory will be lost.

It is know to us and I've filled it twice from a backup but we are still trying to determine the cause and why it keeps reappearing. It is essentially the 0/0 chunk which is the new maps original spawn (our spawn was moved to suit the location of the copied over buildings). Taking the repair of this slowly and with a lot of testing given the region file for this chunk is the most densely populated.

Any luck with trying any of these?

Question admins. If we ever made a new map and buildings of active players who wanted to were copied over, would it be possible for my new house to be moved as it's technically a hollowed out mountain. Just curious as obviously I'm going to spend a lot of time sorting the internals out :)

Technically there is no problem carrying out such a copy in the future if this was the case, we did some examples of this when we last changed the map. The obvious downside is you will always need to do a certain amount of landscaping around the perimeter but we will do the best we can to keep this to a minimum by finding a suitable location on the new map.

My house was built on a mountain and was kindly moved. It did require quite a bit of landscaping at the rear to smooth out the vertical cross section. This is why I've now built my new house on flat ground lol.

I'm hoping we don't have to start another map that soon. This one seems fairly manageable (compared to the old one, which caused all sorts of issues) :)

A new map :D

Old map was a nightmare. Amount of time spent on the moves, repairs and adjustments to move to a new map was ridiculous, I wouldn't be in a hurry to repeat all that work just for the sake of a new map.

As a comparison the render of the old map was:

230890 x 67834 pixel, 356mb .png file. (zoom.it is unable to manage this)

Current map is:

31786 x 13706 pixel, 169mb .png file.

This of course is just the render, the map files themselves are substantially greater. Just a bit of trivia :)

When the current map becomes hard to manage would it be possible to increase the boundry by 100% in 1 direction and move the spawn point to the center of the new square? Someone could build a track from new spawn to the old spawn so people don't loose builds and materials. As long as most people are clustered in the new sqaure it shouldn't add much more load to the server (is that correct?). if people are told to make new builds in the new section then the old part of that map can be left unmanaged. The old section could also be then used to farm lots of materials without worrying about keeping the landscape looking nice (tnt :)).

notch: I'm feeling very motivated. Minecraft Beta 1.7 wil be the Adventure Update (or similar). The rumors of Minecraft: Source are false.

fffuuu...

notch: 1.7 will take a while, though. First 1.6.6 this week to fix a few more things, then I'm going to E3. Then there are summer vacations..

I like how he says 1.6.6 won't be on monday, just 'this week'. So clearly he feels there's a lot of bugs to fix before 1.6 is ready.

E3 plus summer vacations thing makes me think they will be doing even less work from June-Aug. Leaving Sept/Oct before release in Nov.

As much as I hate the idea - I think really they need to stop adding content and actually make the game work and fix the 100 odd bugs.

So long as the 0,0 hole doesnt start to spread ;)

The hole will need to climb the new fence first :p

At the very least it should cut down on the suicide rate :D
