OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

What's happened with these? Do we need to re-enable the fire plugin?

I could potentially rollback things though I'm not sure how well it works with fire.

Yeah, it burnt down quite a lot of builds. Joachim's house at spawn is completely gone (or very near to anyway).

I can't get on until this evening but if people can show me where things are I'll try and work through sorting things. You'll have to excuse me if I'm slow at doing it as I mostly work with the server hosting stuff rather than the ingame logblock tools/etc.

OK - no problem. I've fixed my house since the damage was minor (however the fire did kill some dogs). The rollercoaster damage is where the two lava flows in the sky fall from. Joachim's house is down the road from mine.

I'm going to be on a lot today so I can point out the damage relatively easily.

Repost from Linktart site:

Morning everyone,

I was thinking we need to decide where the spawn nether portal should be and then ban the placing of any other portals within roughly 160 blocks of that portal, otherwise the nether side will just be loads of portals very close to one another. 160 should translate into 20 blocks on the nether giving us a nice 40 block square area that we can build the central station in.

On that note the station should have four lines going in the cardinal directions to stations at the edge of the map (in the nether and real). Then people can just make lines that meet whichever cardinal direction cart line is closest.

On the lines how about 2 lines per direction that are marked inbound/outbound to avoid people crashing into one another and use simple vanilla cart mechanics, well we have no mcm so that should be easy enough. That way the main lines are simple to maintain and people can build more complex lines for their connecting bits if they so desire.

These are just my suggestions but if we get a bit of a consensus going before anything is built it would be good. So anyone got any other ideas, I should be on all evening discussing this and scouting out for the north line edge of map outpost as its closest to my home.

Cool stuff. I'll try to get on around 5ish but I'll let people know if it's going to be much later.

lol it's hardly completely gone....

^^ There is some damage, to the wood floors inside due to a fireplace.

^^ 6 wood stairs (by lava).

I see this as the game working as intended... Gotta be smart when putting lava and fire next to wood. I think notches nerf is perfect though. It spreads really slowly and does eventually put it's self out.

Limit of mobs as I understood it was 200 mobs from 24 to 144 block radius from the player (in a cylinder). So yes you will reduce the possible maximum amount of mob (animals and monsters) by the amount of dogs u have.....this is totally assuming that once you tame the dogs that they still apply to this rule.

So limiting the amount of dogs people have will only have a negliable effect on the present amount of mobs spawned or spawnable. You would only notice a difference if people get silly with their dogs, say like having over a hundred in a small area. Or having several people in a small area having a lot each......

I'm just going by anecdotal evidence. There's quite a few reports on the official forums about people with lots of dogs claiming it effects passive mob spawns.

Frenchtart..... would it be possible for you to do some investigating? Iirc there was a problem a while back with slimes screwing up mob spawns. Could dogs be doing the same? There definitely seems to be a lot less since the patch that introduced the dogs.

Thanks to Joachim not too much damage was done - looks like just the chimney :p

I'll fix it tonight when I get back from work :p

Also thanks scrlk for doing my doors! This morning I spent about an hour designing a circuit for it hahaha :p I'm just glad it's working now though :p

:D

No problem. Go behind gundog's saloon and you can see the circuit.

New Nether Rail Standards:
Totally underground
3x3 tunnel (inner size)
Dual rail - powered rail every 20 block
Levers for rail power
Central divider out of stone slabs - every 4 blocks, double tiles with torch on top
Last 50 blocks to the station, completely stone tunnel
