OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

Is there any server logs that would indicate how I died? I was just using the community spawner and I noticed a player moving in front of me (I was working on another screen so I didn't get a good look at who it was) so I look back at my screen and suddenly I'm dead. I respawn and rush back but there is no1 there, and managed to pick up my stuff.

I have no idea who or what killed me but the only person I saw there was shortly after when I was picking my stuff back up was nickslash, who when I was sorting my inventory out and throwing the junk to the side of the room he was picking it up and throwing it back at me, forcing it in my inventory when I'm trying to reorganize, and using a pumpkin to block the water flow and such. No idea if he was the one who killed me but it sure as hell didn't help when I was try to sort my stuff back out.

I checked /bbhere but the list was so long and seems to show the newest stuff first, so any recent stuff scrolls right off my screen when I use the command and I can't see it.
 
How does the railway work? Why doesn't it need powered minecarts? Can I do the same on my minecart system?
 
Just a thought, but when / if the server gets updated would people be up for starting a new world, that could have the spawn area and such really well planned and then people could head off, do their own thing.

Are people too attached to things they've build / done now?

Why does that need a new server?


Rad can move the spawn.


You'd just have to build one that would be used., as as seen any "designed" spawn will end up full of empty useless buildings because there's very little to do with a standing building in mc.

This is world number 3 that we've had, I think people were planning to stick it out for as long as possible on this current one and only do a new one if needed.
 
The current spawn was planned. Seems relatively empty and disused though. And people seem to have built 100's of blocks from spawn anyway.

The 2nd server did have a good feel of community to it when you spawned and walked about, this one doesnt.
 
I am unsure as to what people want from a spawn, you can put as many pretty buildings in it as you want the fact is that they serve no purpose, if we had the ablity to run a shop and sell items it would mean something but the game does not allow that at the moment. All you have is a big useless shell of a building.

And no we dont need a new server, why on earth would we?

well it's already been mentioned - anything new introduced in the update wont appear on land already explored. Whether thats enough to warrant a fresh start (again {again}) i dont know, but the idea of having to travels for minutes at a time just to get the chance to possibly find some Lapis Lazuli, or the new varieties of wood, is not my idea of fun. I dont see why Rad should put a load in a chest for everybody either, not when the mining concept is pushed so hard on this server anyway. it does kind of make a mockery of it all when nothing else is given away.

I'd be more than up for finding a new home in an unexplored area once beta 1.2 hits the server though. Anybody want to recreate s2? :)

Why is there even thoughts about a new server? A few new things will be introduced yes and if you want them so much go out and mine.
 
To travel a 1000 odd blocks to get the new mineral will be a bit of a pain.

If the next lot of updates are expected to have as much content as notch's blog implies, then this could get out of hand very fast.
 
Another reset? Until it's needed because of "patch 1.x needs a fresh world to work correctly" then please, don't reset again, I'd like to finish a build project at least once :(.
