OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

i assume we'd need to use garsands dropbox account?... Or get him to share with us or w/e i'm not familiar with it ; P

- also i'm trying lys, lets sort out and do half each? xD

Of course. I'm assuming that as long as we have coordinates it'll be easy enough. I imagine it's a pretty hefty file.

Actually jmiller although 10s of people may have offered to pay, when I made an appeal at the end of January for donations only 3 people contributed anything. I'm not using the lack of donations to justify anything, I said at the start I'd pay for the server and donations were a bonus. I'm just pointing out that people don't want to pay.

Are people under the impression that I have a magic grief vision that let's me know who did what? With Minecraft software as it is just now and the plugins available it is nearly impossible to do unless you catch someone in the act. Restrict whitelist? How do we reall know who is trustworthy, as I pointed ou in the past some longer term "respected" members have been caught.

You mentioned that log files exist, but that they're too massive to check.... but you're saying this to a bunch of folk who, no doubt, work with massive log files all day long (IT). Why not let some folk look at them? :)

edit - no matter!

moving to new towns becomes more and more difficult the bigger the world map gets. it would be helpful if you could just delete chunks of explored, but otherwise unused, map. that way when they are re-explored they should (in theory) be generated with all the new blocks and things in place. I dont know how workable that really is though. when i think of all the mining and building we've done over the last few world starts it doesnt make you a little sad but it has to be done in some cases.

Windle pays say £20 a month out of his own pocket to pay for the server so you can play on it for free.
he restarts the server, he adds players to the whitelist and more, do you not think he does enough.
This is not windles job managing a minecraft server he does it so he can play minecraft online & you can have a server to play on.

he's the admin, it is his job. if he cant handle the task then assemble the team to do so.

Windle could you let us know whats going on the server, sort of went down last night for a restart without any reason why, I would not normally care, but just as it was going I had a big forest fire started by accident at my tree farm, the 3 second warning of a restart didnt really help Fur may of got the /ex to work hopefully.

Windle has taken the server offline so everything is stuck in time nothing is getting damaged.

As Windle is away from home last week & this week as he posted last week.

I think you guys are doing a great job hosting and being admins, and it's great that we can enjoy a free service. However griefing is becoming bad- I think it would be a good idea to ban the use of TNT and flint, and install the mod that prevents creepers from damaging land, only player damage. We used to have a similar set up on the old map, and I can't seem to recall any incidents of griefing. :)

most of the greifing is stealing though.

Tbh what's the point in playing with a good portion of the stuff removed?

May as well just set it to peaceful or creative.

Make the server pay to play, nothing creates a better community then when you all actually own it, haveing 186 players on a whitelist is a little out of control, if I come on once a month and grief for an hour is anyone actually going to remember me, know me etc

A fair amount of us just come online and stay in our little area, me, Taziir in our bit, Tefal and Sylvet miles away from anyone else, I do not travel to any other part of the map, yesturday was the first time I went and had a look in three builds near my place for months.

Nothing needs removing.

You know I'd be all for a world reset now, maybe if I contributed to the community spawner I'd not waste my time trying to nurse my spawner and could get on building mine tracks and other things.

I notice some servers reduce on monsters and/or erase ANYTHING out past a certain number of blocks and their servers are silky smooth. One server erased anything past 3500 blocks in either direction. I don't think reducing monsters would be good tho.

But Flint and steel and TNT aren't that important to normal gameplay. Granted in some conditions they are needed, but the user could be supervised by an admin?

tnt is pretty much a necessity for any large underground construction.

fire is also very nice for decoration.

Can do more dmg with a bucket than flint and steal tbh, just pour lava on the wood floor job done and there's lava all over to make clean up harder.

Why take it offline? Apart from moody petulance is there any other reason?

Gars, can you please help us access the Dropbox file, it doesn't seem to be working.
