OcUK Nvidia RTX series review thread

Like I said, the end result is a very slight loss of detail when compared with native 4K, but saying that they’re merely “turning down the detail” to get a boost in performance is intellectually dishonest.

If you merely “turned down the detail” yourself, to a level that matched the performance of 4K DLSS X1, the image would look nowhere near as good as what we are seeing here.

That's what I have been saying.
If you want to give up detail using a £1,000+ card. That's up to you.

I want detail. Not a blurry mess.

Can many people really notice the difference whilst playing the game? As opposed to directly comparing still frames.

Seems to me actually playing games isn't the point with people who'll pay £1000+ for a GPU, they just want the buzz of having the fastest and the best, and from the minute they install their new toy, they're counting down the days until something newer & more powerful comes along.

I think there might be an element of truth there. Though you can't tar everyone with the same brush

No offense to kaapstaad but I don't think he is a big gamer really? Seems more interested in benchmarks.

Can't speak for anyone else but the difference that an extra 15-30 fps make at higher resolutions is very noticeable and that's why I always buy the fastest.

no its not, playing racing sims the fps difference can be felt, there is a big difference between 80fps and 140.

I'm "happy" around 80 and I clearly see how much smoother it feels compared to 60, but Quake Champions or Forza do feel very different around 140Fps vs 80.

BTW Quake Champions is free to play on steam and it's amazing (love the game, will mention it whenever I can).

And that's the reason why I'll get the 2080 in a few days: Horizon 4 should get near 150fps at 1440p, and that game looks incredible (IMO the best engine around).

Once you get over about 80fps it's all a bit pointless though
It most certainly is not. not even close for some of us. If it is for you then good, i'm happy for you, cause you get to save some money the next time you want to purchase an upgrade.

Btw I fixed your post.
Once you I get over about 80fps it's all a bit pointless though for me
