Good luck all as it is going to be an interesting and difficult round to judge.

I'd also give 1000 negative points for the racing car images TBH. No thought put into those whatsoever, sorry. One taken with a 2000 grand camera as well, bloody hell

Aimed at me, my thoughts..... I only take photos for my own enjoyment, therefore your opinion on them doesnt matter to me in the slightest, I simply post them on here to take part in the community. I know ive no chance of winning, and so what ive used a £2k camera  the price of the camera has nothing at all to do with the results the photographer produces. You say the photo has no thought put into it whatsoever, your wrong, end of...

oh and by the way you can have the  back.

Psilonaught, without trying to kick up bad feelings here I have to say that's a pretty narrow view you have there. Racing car photos aren't my thing either but I can see why they appeal, you can't knock someone for shooting something that they like and that lots of other people will like. The only pic I'd question in this lot is olv's ... do you really think anyone want's to see your ****?

I said before, I think it's going to be a difficult round to judge. Some very good entries ... my favs are Hoodi's and Gamefreak's. Other good ones ... Danza, Vipernet, themask (although I like the last two they don't really say 'yellow' to me). I also think Broadbandplacey could do well but he's at the mercy of the judges. It's a love it or hate it type shot. I didn't want to like it but I think I do ;)

Good luck all :)

Although I didn't use quite so grand equipment for mine, it was a Motorsport image and I agree with everything Dreeder put.

The simple fact is its more technical to take a sports image than necessarily creative, and as such I feel they carry equal merit for their own areas.

sorry for causing any offense, it wasn't meant to, but i will stick to my view that images of cars going round a track shouldn't be posted here. It's boring and uncreative.

Maybe it's because I don't drive and have no interest in cars!

Anyway appologies once again :)

I like all the shots on the thread, because they all convey 'Yellow' in some way or another. There are some better than others, and there are many better than mine, but I'd like to thank those who like my shot as I do :)

The trouble is, my lens has a tendency to go soft at 300mm...and it suffers from CA at times too :(

I think I need to invest in some better quality 300mm glass!

Good luck all :)

Yet this is the photography forum so they have as much right to post their boring stuff as you have to post your boring stuff :)

Mohain and Fstop11 for me, both really good shots for different reasons.

I accept your point of view because it's an opinion you're perfectly entitled to hold. Although I'm a bit surprised given your choice of subject for your entry.

Personally I find people photography and most pictures of architecture pretty boring. There are exceptional shots but should they be excluded from here as well just because I don't like the majority of them?

Each of us has a particular interest and tries to improve in that field as far as we can. Not everyone will appreciate the subject matter, nor the skill required to create a decent image from it. If we happen to like a particular image all well and good but there's no justification for dismissing a whole branch of photography just because it's not our own particular preferred area.

well in for a penny in for a pound eh mohain :)

to join the motor racing shots debate, they dont do too much for me either but i can certainly appreciate the massive skill required to do it properly. Panning, composing shots in such a quick time, keeping the cars crisp etc.

just as any type of photography it requires a certain set of skills, which you have to learn and you have to hand it to someone if they can do it well, even if you dont like the genre of photography.

I think every entry is valid and the opinions of others are subjective.

We all know each entry will be judged fairly and I would imagine will get points even if it was more pink than yellow and regardless of wether it portrayed a motorcycle or a flower.

Interesting factoid.

Ever round I work out the average score that each judge gives. The first round Matt was indeed the lowest, then me then rich.

However the last round I was the lowest.

agreed, i also took a motorsport shot for this round, as well as a more creative style shot, and in the end decided to go with the motorsport image.

I think as has already been said that everyone has a right to post whatever type of shot they want, and everyone will have their own opinion on what they do and dont like.

I would hardly say that there is no thought whatsoever gone into it because it clearly requires a certain amount of skill to get a good crisp motorsport shot!!

and anyway, what does it really matter weather you used a £50 quid p&s or a £5000 camera plus a top of the range L series lens. Its the photographer that counts and the picture he has created, not the kit he is using.

Although I posted a motorsport shot, I do have some sympathy with the anti-motorsport compo-shot lobby. The point of the compo is improve your photography. To that end you should really be going out and taking a picture directly for the competition. Reviewing a day's worth of shots untill you find a yellow car isnt really in the spirit of the compo...

But what the hell! :D

Sorry guys, work and family got in the way - I'm home now and I'm downloading the entries now... I will distribute them tonight and get started judging I promise :)
