Changed my entry. I was in Hove with my lady earlier and saw a few opportunities to snap, but this one was by far my favourite. A lot of the images I shot weren't particularly sharp though, which was annoying. Perhaps my lens is soft at the 70mm end? Never mind anyway.

I used the MW_BW conversion action (thanks cyKey!). It's the first time I used it and I really like what it's done to the final image.

p.s i really like that shot Danza, just im not keen on the part where her body dissapears into the shadow, other than that top notch

I must say im a bit of a noobie to photgraphy at this level but most the shots seem more like portrait photgraphy than candid to me.

There are some very good photos already up there but for me the only really candid shots are those by Blackvault and Venus.

Please bear in mind im not having a go at the others its just they dont seem to fit the theme very well

It makes you wonder doesn't it. I mean take this shot Ray posted.

Is that a candid in that the guy quickly snapped the girl as she was staring out the window or is it someones girl friend and he said to look pensive?

Guess we'll never know, as for your pic cykey, i think it's excellent, nice use of tone as well.

cyKey - I think your shot is cracking, and it hits all the right technical buttons. But that's about it. Whereas just about all the other shots entered thus far have some sort of story, meaning or feeling to them, yours doesn't. Sure, it looks great, but that's it - it's missing the second half. I've spent the best part of this afternoon staring at it, and either there aint nothing there or I aint getting it.

Now, I'm not saying this as helpful critique (lolz) - I'm saying it because I think you're capable of better.

Thanks guys. I really do love the shot myself. Just one of those times where you nail the settings in 1 shot. Fantastic light in the building with just the right amount of fill-in flash.

I was wondering would the below picture be described as candid? I wasnt thinking about entering as i could never compete as i only got my 350D mid august.

cykey - Noooooooooooooooooooooo, you should never give that away ! Techniques are ok but not the rest, same as you never show people your bad shots. They'll start you think every photo you take is painted by Michael Angelo.

Mystery is half what a Candid shot is, people think what they want to think because it is the story that makes it. And there is nothing better than a person's imagination when it comes to mystery. Just like a good horry movie, it's not what you see, but its what you don't see. The monster is never as scarey once you've seen its face.
