OcUK Photo Comp - Season Five : Round Two - "Religion" Discussion

I was thinking of a shot of a full pub on a sunday with guys shouting at an unseen TV screen - but would have been difficult to get/capture. It looked good in my head though :)

yes if you look at the image thinking 'this is all about religion', it hits the spot, but from a 'what does this image say to me' perspective(like what the judges should be looking from)it says protesting etc...its all about that damned subjectivity again, oh and your wrong, my god > your god :p
 
Nice photographs guys.
My favourite shot is the one by Sleepyd. It's very sad.
I also like the effect on the one by Fstop11, very cool. And DiG's shot is very nice as well. Simple and efective.

Ahhh but then the viewer might wonder what they are protesting and since they're outside a church... :D *hopes*

Hey, thanks Andy :) Glad somebody likes it :( . Nice shot yourself by the way.

I thought it was a really difficult theme to get something that fits well without looking set up. It's very easy to do the church or churchyard shot (I am guilty) and then everything else seems to feel a bit contrived.

RichDay, good luck with the move, hope it all went smoothly. I know it can be a stressful time but when you finally move in you can't beat the first time you look round the place and think 'I own this'.
 
Pfft, my judging was done nearly 24hrs ago. I guess we'll have to wait patiently for the other judges! :cool:
 
I wanted to suprise everyone and get the results out quickly! but then someone decided to move house :p

Yeah, this is a problem with the marking scheme... you could submit a technically amazing photo, which has big impact, but is actually NOTHING to do with the subject, and you'd score really well. Maybe the scores need weighting in some way? Though that could get complicated!

You could do it, either increase the range for the theme or lower the range for the other 2, though i depends how you want to look at it, is it a competition for technical skill, or how you translate a theme, or how you translate that vision to the screen for maximum effect or a combination of the 3? might be just best left!
 
However it's marked there's some nice shots in there, didn't have the time this round at all, camera's virtually grown into the bag :(

LOL! Still got a net connection for the next week or so - I have use of the flat I rent until the end of the month but the phone gets moved over sooner.

I'm ill today with man flu *sniff* so no work but also no decorating or moving boxes :( I have however judged half of the entries, will try and do the other half a bit later once my head stops pounding!
