OcUK Photo Comp - Season Five : Round Two - "Religion" Discussion

After much dithering I've decided to remove my entry in this months comp , just don't like the Theme :(

Aaww :(

I think you should reconsider. Think of it as a 'challenge' rather than a 'competition'. These challenges are designed to get us out shooting and thinking of things that might be out of our normal comfort zone. From what I've seen your shot are good and you always stand a good chance of scoring well in these comps. Reconsider ... go on ;)

Whats happened to all the usual suspects - I guess were waiting for a flurry of last minute stonkers?

Mohain's for the win at this stage ;)

Gojira, isn't your picture technically illegal? I didnt think you were allowed to reproduce images of currency..

Try opening a picture of a bank note in Photoshop. Its spooky.

Well, my pic did go through PS Elements without any problems :)

As I understand it, if my pic was just a nice clear shot of a 20 squid note, it might well be illegal, but as it is, I think I'm ok. :D

Well I've got an entry up, lucky that I went skiing this week!! Annoyingly there was a bit of snow on the lens, any ideas as to how to get rid of it in photoshop? Or is that not allowed?

right well got a shot up.

Unfortunatly due to my camera braking i wasn't able to take the shot i wanted. I wasn't going to enter, but then looked through the photo's i had taken since 11th Febuary and found one of a church! :)

Hopefully i will have a camera again for the next round!

Well, finally happy with a picture. Straight after work, I braved the soaking rain (as did my camera!) and I went around a few churches, then I found that statue of the Crucifixion of Jesus, took a picture of it and did a lot of processing from the RAW file.

Looking back, I should have used a larger aperture size to put more of that brick background out of focus, but never mind, too late now! Plus I found out that Photoshop 7 is stripping my EXIF information, the option to preserve it is greyed out. So my original duotone picture was discarded in favour of that highly-processed one there!

Some well nice entries so far - nice one everyone :D

Mine is up at last. Not my greatest picture but I'm reasonably happy with it for the subject.

There are some regular names still missing so I should think there'll be a few last minute crackers. Good luck with this round all.

My shot is up. I actually really struggled with this theme.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to execute my original idea - I had wanted to do some candid shots outside the Scientology shop/church/thing on Tottenham Court Road, but I didn't have a free Saturday to get down there (I went today, but it was really quiet... :( )

Hey all, have been absent for a while due to my girlfriend and I making arrangements to buy our first house. Everything is now sorted and we collect the keys tomorrow although a lot of decorating needs doing before we're finally in.

So to cut to the chase... I will endeavour to get my results together as quickly as possible but please bear with me if things drag on a bit. I have to go to the solicitors early tomorrow morning so I won't be around to close the competition tonight. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY AFTER 23:59.

Late entries will not be judged.

Just so you know :)

I changed my entry.

My original idea of a satanic alter was a non-starter as the missus didn't want me to daub a pentagram on the garage wall (where's her sense of adventure  ).

I think it's a better shot. I think the original cross shot has more impact but the bush is distracting. I took some shots of churches in IR for the comp but I think this is a better entry for a religion theme besides there seems to be loads of church shots up. I didn't take the shot specifically for this comp, but I did take the shot (and others) with the theme 'religion' in mind. Anyway, I think this will have to do.

Cheers,

Mohain
