OcUK Photo Comp - Season Five : Round Two - "Religion" Discussion

Doesnt look to be making much intrest this one.

Yer I know. Its odd. Theres so much scope and yet everyones either done a church or a cross. Where's the football shots, or music shots? Where's the Mosques or Druid temple things?

Posted mine, struggled with the theme, struggled with the idea I had and then finally struggled with the composition.... :(

Not very many entries so far which highlights the difficulty with the theme.

Strictly speaking I don't think they fit the theme. Yeah, some people treat those things like a religion, but they're not, they're sports or entertainment.

Just my 2p ;)

Ah but its not whether you think they are a religion its whether your shot says "Religion". Christian rock band, gospel choir, David Beckham (modern day jebus) :)

Well my entry lasted a full 4hours before I tired of it, hopefully this that ive replaced it with will last longer.

Im happier with this shot, its less busy and more "fun" and hopefully more "religious" then the originally posted image.

I totally agree with cykey. Although Pete maybe a Liverpool FC Fan. My best mate is a die hard United Fan and I would say he loves them as much to consider it as a religion. The problem a lot of people have is they see religion based on the catholic upbringing/education they have had. This is really a theme to push the border of experimentation.

And there's the difference, the first two are clearly founded in a traditional religious framework. Whether or not we agree with it the first two are celebrating the existence of some "greater" being/presence.

Beckham is an icon, people wouldn't pray to Beckham, Henri, etc. Subjective, I know :)

Hmmm. I think that girl in Bend it like Beckham did.

Shaken from her reverie, Jess wakes up in her bedroom, a shrine to Beckham, to whom she prays, just as her parents pray to the picture of a Sikh guru in the living room downstairs.

I have to be honest, I did have an idea for a shot involving the "beautiful game" but dont think its the right time of year.

Dreeder your other entry was much stronger imo.

Arhhhh... ive switched back, the more I look at either the more I dislike them, which probably isnt a good sign as a comp entry. :(

Im now leaving this entry up and not going to look at it until after the comp closes. :p
