Look at this stackYou might find that real money tourney's are a lot harder.
I personally hate tourneys because you can get all your money in pre-flop with AA and still leave without a penny.
Any reason you didn't call and let him fire on the river?

You have an interesting Sharkscope as well![]()

Anyone recommend some ebooks or similar for someone just starting out with poker. Got a few live games coming up with friends, going to practice online over the next few weeks!
) how to beat crush low limit poker. Even if you play NL this book has the VERY bare basics of any poker.
John skalansky (not sure of spelling) how to beat crush low limit poker. Even if you play NL this book has the VERY bare basics of any poker.
Remember poker takes 10 mins to understand and a lifetime to master blah blah
Even if you don't but the book check out starting hands tables ,again most are for Limit poker but similar apply to NL
blairw, watch the WSOP on youtube, look what the pros do, some good commentary on it. Also check out High Stakes Poker, its in its 6th season now

For the love of God, if you're a beginner at poker do NOT watch professionals and emulate their play.blairw, watch the WSOP on youtube, look what the pros do, some good commentary on it. Also check out High Stakes Poker, its in its 6th season now, the commentator usually talks you through the hands. Most of it is just experiance, learning what cards to bluff, learning to slow play if you have for example J J and flop J 2 5, if you bet you've obviously got a J so you'd be lucky to get a call seeing as 3 of the 4 J are already out, it's unlikely another player has the remaining one.
Stuff like this which is easy to fall down on. I don't usually bluff if I'm first to act becuase you may have 3-4 people left to act which can very easily of hit something.
Just google poker tactics or soemthing, sure a good site will come up.
This. Sklansky's Theory of Poker and No Limit Theory and Practice are the first couple books any beginner should read imoI would say that the differences in NL and Limit are big enough that it would be a mistake to try and learn one first and then transfer what you have learned to the other
From Sklansky's book I would recommend "no limit hold 'em theory and practice"
