The Turbo on the E Class is from a CAT 8.1 litre earth mover.

Its still on its standard manifold and fuel pump!

It's an incredible amount of power from an engine that was 10 years before any manufacturer got close to that power from a 6 cylinder diesel. Want more info!

Hi there

I shall try to get all graphs uploaded later.

Was having a chat about harness bars with some of you guys at the meet, can't find anything for sale in the uk.

Did find this in USA:-

That the kind of thing were talking about?

Either that, or if you have a cage, get one welded in.

Looked like a good turnout, just wish the Starlet had been ready. Will be definitely be coming to the next one; will it be same time next year, or would there be another one first half of 2014?

Don't you want to stick a half cage in it? Should be more readily available and a lot safer in an accident. Also should give the car a bit of rigidity also.

I know you're still trying to cut weight mind.

The guy who owns the Merc just gave me this info:

It's an e300td with an adapter flange on the stock exhaust manifold to a fit a holset hx35 turbo and tial external wastegate. Front mount intercooler from a Subaru impreza. Egr has been removed. Cat has been removed. All exhaust silencers have been removed. And I've fitted a variable potentiometer to the ecu so I can increase he fuel quantity slightly. It's completely maxxed for the setup. But if I put a custom exhaust manifold on and send the fuel pump to Austria to have 8mm elements fitted it will have enough fuel for 450+bhp. Will do this next year and turn the boost upto 3bar on that setup. Currently 2bar.*The whole car has cost me £1100 so far including buying the car. I've done all the modifications myself. It's just a bit of fun to see what it can do really

It's hilariously impressive though.

PMK you should bolt a turbo from some heavy machinery onto yours, you'll get like 700bhp.

Does it have any breathing mods?

No mate. I'm thinking of selling it as it's ****ed me off no end this year with various faults but it's performed like a trooper this weekend and I'm half tempted to keep it for another 12 months. I'm pleased in knowing I've got a strong engine to improve on.

Keeping and upgrading various bits it will be cheaper than buying the next car that I want :D
