OcUK Rolling Road Day 16 @ PowerStation (Tewksbury) - Saturday November 16th 2013

One "curious" thing was that in current form the dyno reading was 20ft/lbs and 15bhp less than my last one at PowerStation yet the uncorrected Wheel HP was 5hp higher and the mechanical drag was nearly 20hp less too  so it'll be nice to get it back on PowerStations rollers as they're my "default" for figures.

Where did you get mapped / dyno time?

Long story short for PowerStation's dyno. Both contact patches measure the wheel figures, so they're not comparable to other at the wheel figures. It's an "at the two contact patches per wheel" figure, which they then do a coast down to see drivetrain losses which they then add together to get the flywheel figure.

Where did you get mapped / dyno time?

Dyno was at Hi-Tec Motorsports in Birmingham who mainly do 60's-70's competition cars. The dyno is the same as Powerstations (MAHA 3000pkw) but a two wheel version.

The mapping is by Racebits who specialise in Diesel mapping. I already had their "50/50" map (fantastic map BTW for extra power & MPG) so after I stopped my 10K mile a year commute I decided for a "full power - lets see what I can get" map, only the turbo runs out of puff so I got no peak improvement but more Tq/Hp earlier in the rev range.

Fuzz - slightly off topic, but did you do the tuning the other week on my brothers Starlet Glanza Turbo thing ?

He seemed to think you'd seriously sorted it out !

Put me down as a runner please gibbo, tho I will have to come a bit later as the car is having it's MOT at 0830 that morning in Redditch.

Quite possibly, you know me, memory like a sieve. Vague recollections of working on one with my boss one Saturday not so long ago when it was quiet :o

Sounds right. It was a black one, recaro seats, I believe one of you was horrified he wasn't running it on V-Power, made something like a 40BHP increase.

Suffice to say, it isn't exactly slow now.

What Automatic is it first? :D

If it has a manual mode then likely it will be fine. Both my current Jag XF and Merc E55 have been on the powerstation Dyno with no problems apart from slightly confused traction control (but that is a whole different issue!)

I'm still spectating but a mate of mine who I bought last time wants to run his Fabia vRS.

Is there a southern convoy going on?

Unless you are willing to wire in switches and explain that procedure to Rich on the day (I'm away :D) I wouldn't bother Alllec.
It could probably be done in auto mode (the dyno) but if it keeps kicking down then it'll be a waste of your time.

By all means come along to the meet, we'll give it a go but don't get all disheartened if it can't be done.
If it can't - we don't charge you anyway. :D

Also bear in mind some dynos run procedures are different.
I have to come to a stop on the Maha for it to begin the dyno pull, so you need to be able to set it all up on the fly whilst Rich is beginning to lean on the throttle during the actual run?

If it's turbo charged then forget trying to run it in 2nd as some have suggested on that link, you won't get much traction if any :D
