OcUK Rolling Road Day 20 @ Ti Motorsport (Stoke) - Saturday 29th October 2016

Are the roadworks still on-going at the A500 junction we've designated as the "Great A-Road"? (they were late last week when I last drove through).

Just thinking if so, that junction is currently a nightmare, might want to re-think our "pub" and "a-road blast" part of the meet?

Yes they are. That's a good call.

The section from Newcastle to Talke of the A34 (northbound) roundabout above the A500.

But at the end of the run that ends at that roundabout, we can just go left off the roundabout onto the A500, back down one junction to sandyford and we're back where we started.

I need to be guided by the locals on this one.

If you guys deem it no longer appropriate, please suggest alternatives.

Thanks.

On my mobile so I can't do a map.

If you look at the map on the first post, the NS road would run from right to left (easy to west) if traveling from the pub.
Once the road has ended on the west point (left hand side)
Turn left onto the A500 (quick blast up to dual carriageway speed and we're now travelling east)
Then leave at the next junction, turn left at the roundabout (going north) there and we end up back on Reginald Mitchell way (40 zone).

Still get to do the road, in fact it's probably just as good as turning round and going back the same way.

Edit:

Poor attempt I know. Someone will do a better job.

Straight to redlining on the dyno? :D

I'm going to do my utmost to be as close to the end of the running in period as possible!

It is 2016, the car was built in 2016. Stop calling it a 2017 ;)

I would, but Audi call it a 2017 model. The 2016 is still the pre-facelift ;)

Not fussed when I run, I live 1 minute away but I'll stop @ Ti for a while none the less, doubt I'll have time come pub too.

Personally nowhere on a Saturday afternoon is a good place to razz about around here, so I'd rethink that idea chaps :)

Talke roundabout is a pain I believe still off the A500, luckily I do my best to avoid! If any guys coming from the M6 J15 need some guidance I am near by so don't mind helping people find their way if they have a meet point off the motorway, but all in all Ti is easy to get to.

Pubs, similar vain to Chatterley Whitfield is the New Florence ST3 7EL, it's down the road, but is only cheap and cheerful and does get busy. If you want to spend more there's a few pubs about but some of the nicer one's are a bit naff for parking.

It's a bit of a trek but the A519 south towards eccleshall is a peach, and I know it like the back of my hand ;)

Also, removed the JB4 today and mapped it using the MHD platform. It's good!

It is a good run there. Another idea is the Darlaston Inn as at least you're not far off the A519 there if people wanted a slightly longer run but a bit of the A51 is always good for a quick blast from the roundabout to perhaps Dog Lane at the back of Hanchurch Woods then back to the pub for those that know the area.

But the food is absolutely awful in there, as is the service :D

I think the problem is as already mentioned, there's nowhere on a Saturday to drive between 4-6pm anyway.
Another cheap pub with parking and easily navigated good road links close to where we are would be the Cherry Tree in Newcastle. But there's again no roads that near that warrant a blast.

The problems with talke roundabout can be avoided by using the Sandyford junction, although those coming from the south up the A34 will have to still go northbound up the A500 for a mile or so to the next junction and rejoin southbound as is the sign posted diversion, but this only adds a few minutes onto a journey assuming it's not rush hour.

Darlaston Inn is a fair shout tbh, probably only 10 minutes from TI and the road from there up to the roundabout at Cotes is really something excellent, as are the roads in all directions from said roundabout. For the longest time those roads were our playground.

Got the cone filters and the intercooler fitted today thanks to Clarkey's help... didn't manage to fit the downpipes as it looks like a total **** of a job, so paying someone else to do it. So still going to be on Stage 1+ map... hopefully it'll make 350+ :)
