Been in the US for a while now, what grinds my gears, no banter in the work space, it's all small talk, pretending to be nice etc etc. But zero banter and fun. At least here in California. I miss walking into a UK office and the whole team just throwing insults around, feels a lot more friendly and fun. You just don't get the same level of 'friends' at workplaces here.

If I'm honest I prefer the nicer USA work atmosphere, I prefer to be greeted with a "good morning, how are you " rather than
a " hey ***face, get dressed in the dark again ? ".

People here go along with it to be part of the "gang " but banter and insults can be hurtful to people
with fragile egos.

Yes I have been advised not to insist on a response to me saying morning to people. Apparently its annoying.

Having commuted across London for 20 years, I agree with everything you wrote.

A personal peeve of mine is fellow pedestrians walking in the opposite direction (especially on zebra crossings) that make eye contact with you and then adjust their course to walk directly at you.

Yes! What the hell is that about. I’m noticing it more and more. You make eye contact and then make a courteous effort to move more to one side of the pavement and they literally walk diagonally across the pavement right at you.

I’m also noticing now that women in the city are far worse than blokes for just barging straight into you. It’s like a sense of entitlement thing.

Doesn't bother me normally as long it's not becoming too personal. If I do something stupid I expect to have the **** taken out of me for a bit for it! :D

If it's still going on 3 months later then I am probably less amused haha.

Christmas used to be, when I was growing up in the 80/90's, from around the start of December so you had about 3 weeks of it before the big day arrived. Now it's pushed at you from even before Halloween! It now feels drawn out and annoying, instead of something to look forward to. Also it's more now a case of "consume, yes you MUST consume" with regards to shopping for presents. Commercialism has wrecked Christmas.

People who sit in traffic with their foot on the brakes and blind me,

and

The fact I am one of those people, because when stationary in the Lexus the Hybrid battery only charges in D or P so I have the choice of sitting in D with the parking break on, stressing out the motor and wasting battery, shifting to N and where the ancilliaries will run the system flat and make the MFD start bonging at me, or shifting to P and flashing my reversing lights and having the parking sensors beep as I pass through R every time I start or stop moving.

Christmas!

Agreed.

Not sure if it a pet hate or not.. but people walking around with their heads in the mobiles devices watching TV who appear to actually think the world around them has stopped, especially for them.. I must have seen at least a dozen people walk straight into the road without looking and one right in front of a bus. She had no idea how close she was from spending Christmas in a coffin. Ignorant *****

Fussy eaters. Not the kind who have a genuine psychological issue with specific food groups for whatever reason, but people who just won't try new things.

I love my GF to death, but her pig headed ignorance when it comes to eating fish annoys me to no end.

This. Though despise it more in restaurants, cinemas, social occasions etc. If you canlt live without the damn thing for a few hours then you deserve to get clipped as you cross the road. Have the smallest semblance of respect and put the bloody thing away!
