So its worse but not as much as people might think. I suppose AMD having to use a 256 bit memory controll and 16GB of VRAM is not helping with power draw either!

If only AMD named these 7700xt and 7700 as that's what they are they would have looked like the next coming. It's Navi 22 v Navi 32 after all. Navi 31 should have been 7900xt (7900xtx), 7800xt (7900xt) and 7800 (GRE).
50% more efficient was a straight up lie on their slides and rdna3 is quite far behind Lovelace in efficiency
Most people are not really going to care though

£480 7800 XT with Starfield worth an upgrade from a 3070? Likely 20-25% performance increase and more VRAM.
To me that doesn't matter, it is price per performance everything else is fluff really,

Same here but for those not in the know and even those that do know it does matter. You can see it on here the name does matter as it's being compared to a 6800xt and not a 6700xt.

That's promising, nearly 20% uplift with an overclock is pretty nuts!

Purchased a 3070ti when it was released, despite the VRAM warnings from folks on here.
Really want something with 16GB VRAM but 20-25% performance uplift to me isn't worth it personally. I'd rather sit out this gen and dial back graphical settings.
Will probably also reduce the life of the card to a week too... Knowing AMD they didn't push them that hard for a reason. Time will tell.
Because the reviews would show much worse power consumption. Also,once those cards are pushed,it makes them closer to the cards above them!

That makes sense. I have no need to upgrade as the games I play run fine for now. Probably better to wait.
Whats the wattage at max overclock? Surely can't be that bad, but does question why they left so much performance on the table.

Reference is an OK buy, AIB is a rip off. Damn, saved a chunk of money with the 6800 XT.

current prices on OCUK are pretty bad for both cards. Will need to come down £30-40 depending on card

Sapphire Pulse can be had for £479 + Starfield. Not too bad.
Well, that was disappointing. About to pull the trigger, and they put it up a massive £50. No longer a good buy - and they lost a sale.
