OcUK Ryzen 9 3950X review thread

I'm amazed how well the performance holds up in Eco mode where the power consumption under load is only 6W more than the 3700X and 60W less than in standard mode.
The wattage is only from one test whereas the results are across the board.
You're getting about 90% of the performance with the delta between idle and load at only 101W which shows amazing power efficiency; great for smaller form factors and polar bears:

:p

Was watching Linus 3950X review and one of the first things he mentions is that Puget Systems had to get them a 9960X because Intel refused to send one over, presumably to avoid a direct 16 vs 16 core comparison :D

I chuckled when he said that you'll see mostly AMD chips in the comparison as intel... don't... really have... anything to compare against it [3950X]

Oh well still pretty average for gaming, no reason to upgrade for another year.

When the 8700k release they said it's a bad buy, it will get sent packing soon by higher core count chips. LOL, over 2 years going in for 3 and still a absolute unit.

It’s a magnificent chip, I’d love it, but there’s obviously no reason for me to upgrade as gaming performance is actually slightly in the 3900’s favour, so I’ll sit it out and see what Zen 3 brings.

How does OCing work on these new AMD chips. Is it only one core or all? Either way, very impressive and very much needed for the health of the CPU market.
