OCUK Sandy Bridge, SB-E and Ivy Bridge 5GHZ Club

I have a question, is it possible to have a fully stable 5ghz sandy bridge setup on air ? I *MAY* look at getting one if I can be sure the components I buy will defo allow me to do that.

should be I think, I'm 4.9ghz at 55/58 under full load @ 1.35v ish. Ive got a Noctua D14 which is awesome but not everyone's cup of tea lol, oh and an i7 2600k with hyperthreading on. I thought about the 5ghz but prefer my temp/voltage combination tbh given even at stock the 2500k and 2600k are performing like 980x:D

this is my first shot. Nothing special but hope it's OK.

Just to let you know these arent coming up for me

they are working now, but I think your screenshots are not legible enough for me and I suspect everyone else. when you do the run push all the windows close in one location then do a screen grab, at least this way you can crop the image and retain a good resolution. 640x480 scaled from a higher resolution image is too much I think.

I'm using the P67A-UD7 and to get past the shipped F3 bios to F8x (with all the @BIOS fun) and then getting ET6 to work (I know, it's not needed, but it bugged me) was a pain but it seems that my chip (voltage/freq wise) should be good for a bit more.

LinX and Prime will no doubt be fun to play with :).

There is a easy way of sorting that problem of the F3 bios out.

Connect a PS/2 keyboard or adaptor and when you boot to BIOS, just as the screen starts to show text (or the splash screen) press Alt+F12 and flash your back up BIOS to the BIOS you are using.

I bench with F7e and have my back up BIOS the same. Makes life so much easier.

Thanx for that.

I always connect a PS2 keyboard nowadays when I start a new build. Makes initial ocking a bit easier.

I'm glad you reminded about the backup bios. Alt+F12 here I come (plus 5.2GHz) :).

Note to Mod......

Imageshack tutorial in hand :D

5.2GHz with a good imageshack

Had a lot of bios frequency ratios not going above 4.7. It didn't lock up, it just would not let me set anything above 4.7. I re-installed my bios and I seem to have cured it (Gig P67A-UD7).

Anyhow, set comp to 5.2 and passed............

4.8 is very fast considering i am running my Q9300 at it's stock speed of 2.5 which is plenty fast enough for my requirements. I am sure some people upgrade to the latest n greatest for the sake of it regardless of cost. I tend to stay a couple of leaps behind to keep the costs down.

Don't be too concerned. 4.8 is good especially if it's at reasonable voltage. Some of the ones listed are insane! Most are suicide runs, not intended for anything other than to get in this thread.

Yeah but just want to see if I can do it. Plus I hear you get a badge :)
