[OcUK Staff Builds] rjkoneill's TJ07

if the bitspower fittings dont work out..nudge wink i will take them off you hands :)

the bitspower fittings WILL work out

you will have to get your own :D

subscribed, that Yewen bloke is good at getting you to part with ya money :D

i know, he comes into the ocuk tech department with new shiny watercooling parts - he knows i like shiny things!!!

that is a fortress - the case i am moving from

its a great case but has no room for watercooling

added new photo - fitted the first gpu block :D

just waiting for the shipment form EK for the second one and my mosfet blocks

then its BUILD TIME

YES

the 285's i had were asus own pcb design with super ml caps

that meant that the layout was different to reference design of the version 1 and version 2 285 block designs

basically i had a pair of gtx 285s that i couldnt watercool
i only had the option of selling them - in the current climate i didnt get a lot for them

i had the option of a single pcb 295 or a pair of 4890s

he 4890s performed better and cost much less
so i got them
tbh i havent noticed any loss in performance gaming at 1900X1200 with all settings maxed out - framerates are very similar to 285 SLI

plus you dont see many top end, fully watercooled systems based on ati crossfire configs

everyone seems to be on SLI so i thought i would be different :)

will post normal benches and then crossfire once the system is built :)

you get the nickel block?

yeh this one.....got it direct from EK when the 4890 first come out, should have got an ordinary one tbh as it dosnt match the acetel rest of my blocks :)

I could have sworn i'd seen someone else on here using an Asus 285 with a Koolance block. Unless it's another kind of Asus 285...

I admit I am quite curious, as I have the same card, and was considering doing something watercooled to it...

Edit: I believe I found it...

the asus vanilla 285 works with all v2 blocks

the asus EN285 with super ML caps [the ones i had] has a different layout which means no blocks

Ah. Hooray for propriatory layouts -_-

I guess if it is desired to WC it you would have to go with generic GPU blocks and find some way to cool the RAM...
