An AN/VSS-3 1kw xenon short-arc searchlight. It was mounted to Vietnam era tanks and alike. That picture was posted along with some others on this forum years ago. I saved them as they are awesome. I severely got the I wants!
It has a big brother too.. The AN/VSS-1 2.2kw searchlight which pumps out 100 million candlepower in normal mode and 150 million in overdrive. The manual states that looking at the beam from under 200m away will cause serious eye damage or blindness and temporary blindness from longer distances
Maybe not a toy to play with after a few beers

Nothing wrong with collecting torches. Its like with most things, you buy one then want a more powerful one

Just bought another torch as I wanted one that takes 18650 batteries and now I'm wanting an Olight SR91 @ £250
. Doubt I'll ever get one though as I don't really have a need for it. Bit too big to attach to my bike.
That TK30 looks good. At that range though it's hard to tell them apart. Longer range i'm sure the differences would be more apparent.

Well in my case I want a very small AA torch to carry around all the time on my keyring. Then I got the double AA powered LD20 to use for going out at night with my camera and for riding my bike at night.
Then I decided I wanted to move to 18650 rechargeable lithium batteries for the longer run times and 280 lumens instead of 180 for better vision on my bike.
No doubt in the future I'll see another torch that is more powerful or has a better feature than my TK12 and buy that as well.
