OcUK Torch Beamshot Thread

I have a penguin torch

Sorry guys, not for sale, not even for a billion £'s! It's 1 of a kind.

Have a look at the second shot (the one done by the Solarforce L2P) and then quarter the brightness, then you have the most powerful maglight brightness. The large D cell ones are good as weapons, rubbish as torches... :p

Maglites can be good after a little tinkering. I've got a 5D cell one which is running Li-ion cells. This allows me to put 18v into a 12v bulb and results in a few thousand lumens, as I'm driving a 50W bulb with around 80W. Once it's dark I'll see if I can get some photo's. :)

This thread has inspired me to finally retire my decade-old minimag. Good thing too; i was fed up of the damn thing, bulbs seemed to last about 5 mins and the brightness was never as good as it was with its first bulb.

Decided to fork out a bit extra and go for the Fenix L2D, hopefully it'll be a bit of an upgrade considering a minimag can now be had for £12, i paid the best part of £30 for one back in the day

Carp.

Get a Pila IBC charger - it's the only consumer charger that does proper (and safe) CC/CV charging. Any other li-ion charger (excluding hobby chargers) are bad for the cells or at worst, a vent with flame situation waiting to happen.

Really? I saw this charger reccomended on CPF amongst other places. Ordered one from HK a few days ago :(.

I think i'll use it for now as I only have a single battery at the moment anyway.

Got a link to a good place to buy the charger you mentioned? Found one but its £50 .

Having seen quite a lot of Maglight comparisons in the past all I can say is I'm interested in seeing the results, because quite frankly all the resuts I've seen so far have been terrible.:)

I can't see it putting out a few thousand Lumens either, no where near. The Torches we're talking about in this thread (and the ones shown in the OP "only" put out at max 200L, which is a damn site more than most torches. Also how long does the battery last? And the bulb at that too.

Ah yeah, sorry. :D Got confused because I was thinking the TK30 put out a similar amount to the TK10/12, forgot it was the massive one...:o

Either way there is no way a maglight will be putting out thousands of Lumens. :)
