OCUK's new website

The site would look so much cleaner if you simply removed all of the gradients and borders

Drop shadow also needs removing from the logo but i cba

Also stick to the 4 colours

Dark Grey - 2c2c2c
Light Grey - cbcbcb
Red - b91221
Blue - 0057a8

Looks good and I'd drop that silly memory advertising on the left and right.

Unless there are significant and major reworks, the only thing you'll have in a month is a lot less customers.

Bit dramatic :P

Adam's fairly simple tweaks make it 10x better to take in the first time you look at it though. Don't get the hate for the gradients myself 1-2 instances like on the entry items in OcUK Extra and World on the left look out of place but the rest aren't so bad.

Theres WAY to much going on, it's to in your face and not very "clean" looking.

It took me a little while to figure out where the store items were actually listed as it's not clear at first glance, like it was having everything listed on the left (which is where you naturally look first).

What was wrong with the old one? It was nicer on the eyes. Why change things just for the sake of change :)

Doesn't look bad. Need to have a proper look around once my PC is back up and running.

I was just thinking the other day how there hasn't been a refresh in a while.

Just looking on an ipad you get one screen of actual products and two and a half screen of various blurb. Most of this should be more products as you're not selling the business. It's not a welcoming shopping experience scrolling into text and a video after one screen of products.

Guys, I know it's easy to compare to OcUK's competitors but please don't hint at them or try to disguise the spelling.

There's still a rule about it :p

I'm not sure this is sensible. We're talking about web design but can't use the names of competitors sites for fear of what? OcUK isn't going to lose any sales - It's not as if people don't know they exist. I can understand talk referring to their products but pretending they just don't exist?

Have you removed the OCUK free shipping?

Its still there as long as you are logged in.

Played around with the site a bit more, it grows on you (but so does mould).

Can't always find what I'm looking for and would rather the products were listed by price rather than 'popularity'.

No ridiculous side bars (MEMORY IN YOUR FACE!!) when browsing on phone. Now if that would only work on PC.

Like the fact that you can now post your shopping cart in BB code without external help.

Today Only offer - Is there only one now?

Not at all, just because people 'put up with it' last time, doesn't mean it's right or any better. There are a lot of valid comments and great suggestions here, I hope you all take note at OcUK and implement some of them.

Maybe you'll take the hint when you see sales drop, by the sounds of the checkout bugs already you've lost a handful this weekend already. If you want revenue to increase, the site needs to become more user friendly, less clicks required etc.

Like these, Adam's suggestion looks fantastic.

to put this into context

the place in bolton that home page = 1358 lines of code
OcUK homepage = 9006 lines of code

that is shockingly unoptimised.

The ocuk homepage is 1.16mb of data not including any images too.

P.S. To give you a slight positive; I do like the style and concept you're trying to achieve, and I have yearned for OC to update the website and forum - but you are not quite there yet!
