Oculus Quest (Santa Cruz)

Got assetto corsa working now it was to do with the settings in content manager.

Amazing feeling. Control over the car is so much better, can easily detect when its going to start sliding, can easily see the apex's in corners.

Glad you got it working bud, ;)
what settings in content manager did you change/have to adjust, I managed to get into a few days ago, but couldn’t control anything so need to set up my Xbox controller for now,
Also have project cars to play,

going to be an expensive month in May trying to source flight controls/steering wheel and put games ,did get a £4 off bonus from oculus so may have to get Vader immortal with that, shame I can’t purchase Alyx with it, oh well

I had to change from Oculus rift to open vr, and i think that only worked in conjunction with framerate limiting. Not entirely sure tbh, as i had already tried openvr and it didnt work but later on it did.

I have a steering wheel and pedal set already which works great. Id set all that up pre vr.

@MaDMaX** have you found any good games yet? At £22.99 for a lot of the well known ones, I haven't bought any yet. It's a shame beat saber isn't cross buy because I'd really like to have had the more powerful PC version and also the mobile version.

What settings are people with ATI cards using in virtual desktop.

additionally does anyone find the steam vr home environment really low quality? I just can’t seem to get it sharp??? Once in a game quality is much better

i bought il2 as it was 9.99 but if your not into flight sims it’s not for you,
I went thru all the VR games on steam I’m interested in and put them in my wish list, incl Alyx , re Oculus gAmes again I’ve added a few to my favourites incl all the Vader immortal ones, and will play the waiting game for now until each game is on sale, I have enough to be getting on with and sorting out ,
Project star dust and trials of tattoine are good games, if you can call them that as they are very short and/or experimental, but quite immersive

I was hesitant getting a VR headset because I was not sure it would be my thing, and worth the extra investment in games and peripherals but god damn is now ;) lol

Have a browse through the Sidequest store there is some good stuff in there and some of it is free or very cheap. There was a Terminator test "game" for want of a better word its less than Trials but was fun for 5 minutes just to see you shoot Terminators.

There seems to be different stores going on for VR some crossing over some not? I looked for Robo Recall on Steam and couldn't find it, but it is showing on the Oculus software on my pc.

Steam
Oculus software on PC
Oculus app on phone
Quest device itself.

I know there are some differences between some games for PC versus native Quest. If I want the PC version and its on Steam, buy it there. If not on Steam buy it on Oculus pc software store. If want Quest version buy it directly on quest device is that right?

As an example Beat Saber on Steam is slightly higher price than it is on Oculus pc software and on the quest.

I can imagine its not going to be one of the cheapest games at the moment as I can imagine its very popular and a source of fitness so I bet its selling well.

Generally the rules for buying games from the Oculus store are:
a) Is it exclusive? Then you have to buy from the Oculus Store
b) Is it cross-buy between Rift and Quest? If yes, then it makes sense as you get a free PC version for use with Link.
c) Is it cheaper than the steam Version? If yes, then it might be worth buying from the Oculus store if you're not planning to get a non-Oculus headset in the near future.

So if you buy something from the oculus store then you dont also get the steam version, and vice versa if you buy from Steam you dont get it on oculus store?

For a cross buy title do you buy it on quest or oculus store first?

And can the oculus store (rift) titles be played via the virtual desktop wireless option or only via oculus link?

What connection speeds are you all getting using virtual desktop?

Ive set all the options to high and the VD settings screen shows im connected to the 5ghz wifi at 400 Mbps and then at the bottom right of the screen its saying my bitrate is 30.9 Mbps. Ive read it should be far higher than this?

Correct about the store exclusivity! I've been gaming with a friend and we both have a bunch of games over both platforms and it's not been an issue when it comes to multiplayer.

Cross buy works from both stores!

Not used virtual desktop myself so will have to leave that to someone else to answer

I only use VD for Oculus exclusives from my 5700 machine, for SteamVR stuff I use Relive (part of the AMD Adrenalin software) as the latency is better (at least with my set up).

I haven't actually done any hardcore tweaking, I just have the stream quality as the highest they will go (desktop is cabled to Smart Hub 2, and Quest is connected to 5ghz channel).

That said, for any fast paced games, I play the native Quest versions were applicable, so Beat Saber was a must get on the Quest itself for me.

Yes

Cross buy titles are on the Oculus Store on your PC and not in the Quest section. Look up a game and check in the description it includes Quest as compatible if it is a cross buy. So you can then play the native Quest version.

If its not listing Quest in the compatible part in the description you can still buy it but will need to use link or VD to play it.

All games bought via the actual Quest are native Quest games.

And can the oculus store (rift) titles be played via the virtual desktop wireless option or only via oculus link?

Can be played via link or VD. Asking this question makes me think you dont quite understand what playing from your PC is.
Imagine your Quest being a monitor. Your PC is playing the game and outputting the display via link or wifi (Virtual Desktop) to your Quest. All you are using your Quest for is the display, sound and the controller.

My minimum is around 500Mbps on WIFI 5ghz - 30.9Mbps is more than fine I dont know where you have read this but its rubbish. The higher the better yes but that is fine.
Picture Quality - Netflix is (or was) around 15Mbps, Bluray is 25Mbps+ so 30.9Mbps is better than Bluray quality (approximation)

30.9Mbps you should be able to set your setting to Ultra as mine is slightly lower than yours and I have it on Ultra fine. What is just as important is latency and it tells you this on the left. Mine was 20ms last time I looked. If you think about your monitor you might have one that is 1ms or 5ms. TV's are or were around 20ms-25ms (if IIRC) (not all TV's) so you ideally need to be around this or less.

I think you need to do less thinking about it and more playing ! ;)

I have tinkered with my VD settings so I will let you know what mine are when I fire it up not used Quest for a while but I have tinkered with some of the other settings to get better performance.

What I was asking was, if the game is bought from Oculus store not steam, and Virtual desktop works with steam VR then does that still work with Oculus store games? Its the steam vr bit of it that i was unsure about.

I didnt spot a latency value Ill have a look today for it.

Do you happen to have a step by step guide on how to get revive working with the quest? I have a 5700xt
