Oculus Rift

Really don't know about the Rift, the more I see what they are doing the more I think yeah sod it, lets pre-order that also. But then I think damn I just spent 750 on the Vive, do I really need the Rift also.

One thing that is really tempting me though is the launch line up for the Rift, nothing I've seen so far for the Vive makes me want those games, plenty of games on the Rift that look good though.

The Oculus sculpting tool is called Medium isn't it? Also, didn't Valve/HTC say they were open to letting Oculus have access to the chaperone system?

In other news, Elite Dangerous support for the Rift has been confirmed for launch.

Very very good news indeed :D

It'll be on the oculus store (as well as steam, and FD website but all 3 same vr experience)

Yer, if it all works, don't worry. A bit strange though as we share the same Mobo but see what is what really innit :)

Just an update. The problem around "migration failed" event in my event log for the device (fresco usb 3.0 controller) appears to have gone.

I have started on the preview builds, and also noticed the driver from MS is dated the 29/02. There are no errors in the event log. And the usb works like it always did. Perhaps something fishy with that driver and board and controller...although gregster didnt have a problem.

As we quickly approach mid March, is there any more new on the shipping dates or shop release date? The last time I checked, my order was due to ship in April, with a small possibility of a March shipping date
Anyone that had a March shipping date, have you go yours?
When is it due for sale in shops, if it is at all?
Also, do we have to pay on the date is ships / before?

I think the next few days will result in a lot of people switching between the rift and vive.

The vive is superior hardware but the launch line up for the rift is looking incredible.

I only see it happening from Oculus to Vive. That is what happened with me. Oculus back orders are far too late down the road to bother. By the time you get an Oculus many more Vive games would have been confirmed and released.

I'm still peeved that the likes of Project Cars and Adrift are seemingly going to be Rift exclusive for some time :/

No need for seated or standing experiences (and room-scale in the long term) to be platform-biased from any side.

Both games are/will be on steam anyway so it's only a matter of time before they get Vive support. In saying that come the 28th we will know exactly what they mean by Oculus exclusive. Personally I hope its just exclusive to the oculus store and the vive can be used to play those games.

Are we still fairly sure there will be decent demand for launch day rifts?

I have one on order... But now firmly for the Vive. Plan was to sell it on and make a bit of profit (apologies!) but the more I think about it... The more I think just cancelling is the smarter option. Tons of people are probably doing what I'm planning, so how much demand can there be when this is such a niche product to begin with?

As long as there are patches and modders out there for existing game i'll be happy. My favourite game racing sim was Richard Burns rally.

Other games that were really good on DK2

Quake (quakespasm)
Laserface
Minecrift
AssettoCorsa
Alien Isolation (this will be much better with CV1)
DiscoveringSpace
Lava Inc
Summit_X_Snowboarding

TBH thinking of cancelling myself and waiting or the initial dust to settle, reorder the better of the two in Q3.

Got the money waiting for either just don't want to buy the Betamax/HD DVD of the VR generation.

Still trying to figure out how to cancel since ordered with a guest account and used PayPal. Can see the Oculus Ireland prepayment in PayPal, might just cancel that?
