Oculus Rift

I really don't get it. On Friday I got the following email:

Hi Andrew,

Your order has been processed and your Rift is almost on its way! Look for a shipping confirmation email with tracking information soon.

Please keep this email handy for reference. If you have any questions or concerns about your order, please contact Oculus Support.

The Oculus Team

Then today I get the late May estimate. So has it been processed or not?

Shifted to early July, so a 3 month wait. Should be long enough to decide based on user reviews if I want to keep the pre-order or not. My cheap Chinese android based headset is due to arrive early June now (was this month) which might be enough for my VR fix.

ggidd we are the chosen ones :P

Mine hath arrived! Unfortunately, I cant set it up until I order a new comp! Gahhhhhhhhhhhh, damn you three year old computer and dodgy USB 3.0 ports.

Why not get a USB 3 card for it? My rig is nearly 5 years old (overclocked 2500k) but with a 980ti in it and a good PCI-E USB3 card and it runs the Vive perfectly.

I see I've actually been charged by Oculus on the 8th but no tracking details and a late may delivery estimate. This is getting stupid now.

Trying to decide if I want to keep it or not... got a Vive coming at some point (christ knows when HTC will sort that out though), but tempted considering the prices on eBay for the Rifts... a quick £300/400 profit would take the edge of the price of the Vive!

I agree it's tempting as only 2 of the 7 listed atm are in-hand, it would have to be direct though (that sites fees!!) and postage, all to much.
Plus I haven't used any VR headset yet so until I do that I'm holding off.

yeah i actually bought one, causes my computer to BSOD. I have a 3570K with a z77 motherboard. My DK2 suddenly stopped working a couple of months back and I am having all sorts of issues with the USB3 ports, in that they dont work unless you plug everything in the right way and sacrifice a goat. I just dont have the confidence to plug my brand spanking new hard to replace CV1 in - which has just arrived!

Oh yes. Praise be....
The joke is my order time was 35.53! Millions of LOLs

No logic behind how they decide who gets it when >.<... site kept crashing when I ordered mine.. finally got through 20 mins after launch.. no confirmation email so reordered hours later when I got home.. Took a while for them to sort everything out.

Glad to have a date range though

Finally received my rift yesterday, had a quick setup and play with it on a old shoddy gtx670 card, at the beginning you get framerate issues on the demos i tried, but it adjusts after 30secs-1min and then is smooth!

Anyway i should be getting my gtx970 soon anyway.

I have a Vive on preorder aswell, looking forward to that more cause of the controllers. People have talked about the ebay prices here, haven't had a look yet but what are they going at? :D Might be tempted to sell mine and wait for the Hive :D

Ive seen them go for about a grand currently, give or take. Minus 100 quid for ebay charges, then 30 odd quid to paypal, and youre looking at around £370 profit, which is not too shabby.

I thought about it for a while, but then i figure i'll sell this CV1 on for 300 odd quid in a couple of years and i don't think I could be bothered to wait till what is currently looking like august for another one (plus the chance of chargeback hassles which happened recently), so i'll stick with what I have.
