Oculus Rift

Anyone else tested a rift on vega 56 can't get any display at all via hdmi yet it was working fine on the 390 before the swap. Tried reinstalling oculus home, repairing etc etc Nada.

so i got my rift without touch with the idea i wouldn't want or need it, 3 days later touch was ordered and have been playing with it since, i love it!

Would you believe that one of my racing mates has had his Rift for about 18 months and only thought to try the touch controllers a few weeks ago when the rest of us hassled him into playing Rec Room?
I couldn't believe it either... Up until then, he'd literally only used it to play Assetto Corsa :o He didn't even know where he'd put the controllers and had to go searching for them :D

To be fair if you only want to play driving or flying sim type stuff in VR then you don't need the Touch controllers. However, buying a Rift CV1 and then not even trying Touch should probably be a criminal offence. ;)

He's seen the error of his ways and been ripped accordingly :D

It's funny, as much as I love my racing and as cool as it is in VR, Assetto has probably been my least played VR game since I've had the Rift.
Aside from the sweet singleplayer stuff, getting online with mates and having a laugh in Rec Room, Sports Bar, Pavlov and Table Tennis etc has probably been the best multiplayer fun I've had in a long time.

It's fine on my vega 64, can't see there being all that much difference between them. I didn't need to, but maybe you need to reinstall video drivers?

I am loving VR porn and Robo Recall :D

Suggest an app called SLR ;) you'll figure out what that's short for.

I think I'm about ready to get back into elite. Once 2.4 arrives I'm gonna do it. Finally gotten enough PUBG and mechwarrior under my belt to leave them be. Also, I vaguely recall that mechwarrior 5 is due to have VR support, and That I cannot wait for

I was always intending on moving my PC into my spare bedroom for VR once it's decorated, but wasn't planning on waiting until it's finished to try VR, where it is at the minute I have a 1.5m square play area once I push my chair out of the room, I've had to stop playing Robo Recall, I get well into it and constantly punch walls, I kept going back on and telling myself I'd take it easy this time but it never works out, 2 mins in and I'm bumping into stuff again! Only 2 more walls to smooth/paint and a carpet to fit then I can start the move, if I could just keep off the rift long enough to actually get anything done!

first thing i did after the swap was to run ddu and remvoe the drivers and reinstall. ive since done it again with no change.

Hmm okay. You're only using the displayport connections on the 56 for your monitor(s), right? Have you tested the HDMI on its own to be sure the port is working?

yea thats correct and ive tried the hdmi port on a separate monitor with no issue to. i have also tested two dp adapters to hdmi, one of them tells me the hmd is disconnected in oculus home but the other states its connected so the first one appears no good for the oculus. still no display or white light when oculus home is started, just orange.
i have got a support ticket open with oculus but they are so slow its unreal. there's quite a few event errors related to oculus home that appear to have started happening after yesterdays update to... they may have actually been there before but i havnt been in the event viewer for a while so ive never noticed them and i usually clear them on reboot to.
just to clarify, 1 display port cable to an AOC G2460PF, rift tested in both HDMI port and 2 DP to HDMI adapters both passive, 1 works and 1 doesn't(as in the headset is detected in oculus home but still no display).
same setup was working fine before the swap to vega 56, ive actually moved the 390 to the misses machine so im going to test the rift on that just to confim its actually still wokring.
but im out of ideas.
edit: forgot to mention, when putting the headset on, i can hear sound.

I have not read all of your posts but if you have just orange light ? I had this problem your c++ run times may of become corrupt try and clean and re install.

I am NOT talking about the oculus run times.

I've been tempted by it, but I think you only control one unit?
It's a twin-stick shooter, not a strategy game (well, only in the very vaguest sense). I really like it, but I also liked Halo Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike (it's by the same devs). If you like twin-stick shooters, 8 quid is a bargain.

thanks i will give it a go. anything at this point is worth trying :)

edit: that unfortunately didn't fix it, removed all of the redists and installed them from scratch, still got the orange light after a restart.

So just got my rift on Friday but was away over the weekend and only had a few minutes before bed to try and install everything last night.

Unfortunately I've got a gigabyte Z68AP-D3 motherboard with only two usb 3 headers and they use the etron controller which is on the list of controllers with known issues. I've ordered a pcie usb 3 card to try and get round the issue but in the mean time I'd quite like to get it working tonight!

Has anyone managed to get theirs working with a motherboard with the etron controller? Even if it's with reduced functionality over usb 2 or something for the time being. Thanks.

Sadly etron controllers definitely do not work. I had to buy an inatek pcie card, glad I went for the one with 5 USB 3.0 ports over the 3 port version now Oculus have announced that 4 sensor setups are officially being supported

Thanks for the reply, that's the card I went for as well so hopefully that cures the issue. Guess a few more days to wait won't hurt!
