Joshy I may have missed this. Why do you have your current gig? Don't you work for Bentley?

I'm waiting for the in-laws to come round for dinner and trying to finish up the F1 qually. Boo.

3rd Year Bentley apprentice tech. Top of my class (ain't saying much), OBVIOUS passion for cars, I OBVIOUSLY know what I'm doing and yet they umm and ahh when it comes to give me a serivce :rolleyes:. They're making a massive deal out of me being about to move cars around the workshop soon. I past my test with no miniors, have done a few track days and i have a better understand of car control than ANYBODY there (and I'm not saying that as if it's relevant or as if I'm bragging, I'm just stating the facts), moving some car a few yards around a workshop isn't a honour. It's what I should have been doing since passing my ****ing test. A guy I know from school makes a few GRAND more than I do working in British home stores. I ****ing turned up for classes, did my course work and got a 'skilled' apprenticeship, worked my arse off for 3 years and he makes more in stacking shelves. How does that work? Seriously, someone explain how some guy with no work ethic and a coke habit can make more than the straight cut kid who read his books, learned his trade and kept his head down?

Zero respect + low pay x no prospect of advancing past the workshop floor = Me wanting to leave as soon as I can. I don't care if announcing my plans on the internet isn't a great idea. They need to understand that us in the workshop aren't happy. If they read it they can look at the budget and see if they can find a lot more money to keep me and the other guys there sweet. I really hope the job with mark works out but if not I'll make my own way, believe that :)

I'm not going to deny, that's the problem for sure.

They seems to think I'm a dribbling spastic when in reaility they can give me an engine to rip out on Monday and I WILL do it. It might take a while, but I'll do it and I'll be confident about doing it. What they seem to forget is that the techs have apprentices whacking out services on the side for them since their first year with the company. No tech with a boy changes oil, or does spark plugs, nothing. I'm a bit different because I've always been paired with 'specialist' guys (The classic expert, the electrical expert and the 'big job' expert) but I still do an oil, filter and service check without someone needing to hold my hand.

When we we're given our first services all alone one guy completely fell apart when it came to an electrical fault. I'd have been at home with that **** all day long. In the end I ended up doing my pads and discs and holding his hand through the whole diag process, because I'm a nice guy like that.

Again, not bragging, just pointing out that I can do a service check, oil and filter without the car catching fire :D

2when we was young bqack in the day i was 19 few hundred quid i ne pocket stag outgside off out to a reggae dance in luton then back home, borrow 200quid frolm me mum and bachk out till monday the m was the days :D

I leave and my precious off topic thread goes to the dogs! At least it's serving it's purpose. All the negative nancys look a bit silly now!
