They are not that quick and have to be worked.

You think it's great VFM, but it's not because you spend so much on oil and fuel. You'd be better off spending the extra money at purchase time and getting something else personally.

Although I can see the attraction of an RX-8 for £5k, but expect less than 20MPG, and some supercars get better MPG than an RX-8 does.

Knew about being worked. But I don't need or have the feeling to rag a car anywhere I go, unless it also needs to be worked to even do gentle town driving? After all whats the point in hard accelorating to only slam on the breaks seconds later!

Insurance is roughly the same price as a 172/182 and with it's looks there's the temptation lies. Also the rx8 falls into the mid-high price range of these cars.

RX-8's are awesome cars. They're fine around town etc; but similar to a VTEC engine, they need to be worked hard to get the most out of them.

However, the reason as to why RX-8's are so cheap right now (take a look on autotrader) is that they cost the earth to run. Sum 20mpg, expensive everything else. Lots of oil. Engines flood easy if not looked after, maintenance costs are high.

For the money you get a massive amount of car though, massive.

high tax band, too!

Good friend of mine has an rx8 PZ and competes with it in the sprint and hillclimb series. It has been pretty reliable but the maintenance is very high. Oil checks are done after every drive and he's broken a few droplinks. Not to mention he's just replaced the sump after it went porous and the compression is now below standard. :(

Seen various quotes. Aren't the earlier ones around £230 same as a 172?

Yeah, well a 172 at a push willing to pay £2500 and as someone else said rx8's are coming in at £2000. But these ones are poor examples.

It's just the running costs that scare me.

And also need to look in at the home maintance side, apart from checking oil weekly.

Just sent my measurements off to this lot for 3 suits :)

http://www.tailoronten.com/ A couple of my mates have used them, excellent quality :)

I was reading about clothes the other day, apparently celebrities and the like have absolutely everything, and I mean everything, tailored. All part of keeping up the image I suppose.

How long do they take to get to the UK and what have you gone for?

Iv just gone for 3 2 piece double breasted suits, in the material i want they are 18000 baht about 370 quid each. The same thing over here would be 1800 quid each in Savile Row.

I will pick them up before i leave Bangkok on the way home, gives them a week to make them.

Just after some advice what to do regarding work and being a taddle tale.

Last sunday in work a manager (one many of us have a strong dislike for and he was especially bad this day) asked a freelancer to drive the van (aka be the cheuffeur) I passed at this point and raised an eyebrow as this guy was new and had only been onsite that week, and to my knowledge never worked for us before.
I text the general manager (a relative of mine) and incharge of putting poeple onto the fleet insurance, questioning this. But also said others thought he was 25, and as such doesn't really need to be announced to the brokers.
We came to the conclusion he was over 25 and would be fine.

Now today I learnt he was only 24.

Should I go and taddle and tell the GM, who I know would just say something like "a freelancer has concerns, is this so?" and in hope the manager telling him to drive would hopefully be put in his place for a bit or just let it slide?

What material you getting? What colour? Details man, details!

2 shades of dark blue one with a feint pinstripe and one dark grey all in the super 120 wool with Bemberg lining :)

Im going to get a dozen shirts done too but i will wait and get them sorted once i arrive, it really is incredible value for money.

Dont be driving yourself mad mate, forget it.

I really need to get out of that place =[

I have a month off now (working else where) but could be back in september.

I try to forget about the manager, only deal with him when I have to etc, but at times I am ready to swing a scaff bar in his face then rip out his throat so he can never talk to me again.

Got nothing against the other freelancer, but sort of wished he did crash so the manager would be ****** for making him drive. Just, no doubt, the consequences for the driver would be worse.
