I was a bit hesitant about starting the whole drinking 'alone' thing but really what's the harm? I'm not dependent, I don't NEED a drink, it just enhances my night and make me a bit happier than I would be without it.

To someone who doesn't drink that's probably hard to understand.

Having a beer/cider/what ever on your own is fine. Maybe with a nice meal or through watching a movie.

Having a full blown session on your own is a bit sad.

Two weeks ago I wouldn't have considered myself a 'drinker'. I mean I went months and months and months without a drop until I was in a social situation that warrantied it, but I still understood what people were trying to achieve when drinking 'alone'. I just didn't think it really was for me.

At the end of the day, Everyone is happier with a few under their belt.

A reasonable way to tell is to ask yourself the simple question - is it beyond 5pm? If yes then chances are high that DM has had a drink, if no there's still a chance but don't go staking your life on it.

The only difference between their night and mine is mine only cost me £8 + a kebab, I'm more comforty and I get to choose the music

I hear you. I don't prefer going to a club. I invite friends over instead.
