Is it any sadder that going out to a bar/club, paying a fiver a drink and getting smashed, dancing to **** music, etc

The only difference between their night and mine is mine only cost me £8 + a kebab, I'm more comforty and I get to choose the music :)

It depends what you want from your night but I suspect the argument for going to a bar/club is more for the social aspect/trying to score/getting drunk - depending on your intentions. While staying at home is perhaps more likely to be for relaxing/just getting drunk.

They're all viable ways to spend your time of course so if you want to spend the night with a few drinks and the internet then carry on.

Two weeks ago I wouldn't have considered myself a 'drinker'. I mean I went months and months and months without a drop until I was in a social situation that warrantied it, but I still understood what people were trying to achieve when drinking 'alone'. I just didn't think it really was for me.

At the end of the day, Everyone is happier with a few under their belt.

I don't drink at all, in fact when I did ever get drunk, out of the 3/4 occassions in my life, I was actually more miserable, not happier.

Haven't touched any drink for about 8 years

There's a fine line between happy and the miserable place. I discovered that earlier on in the week. I think the trick to find the sweet spot and stick with it.

Alcohol is a depressant though, there is no hiding that really. I do see your point though.

It's only a depressant at a certain point. Up until then it is ALL fun and games until that moment. I can't for a moment fathom why anyone would want to make themselves feel ****ter about their lives.

According to wiki:

Alcohol is a psychoactive drug that has a depressant effect.

In the human body, ethanol affects the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors and produces a depressant (neurochemical inhibitory) effect.
