So thinking about going to view two different cars this weekend.
1. '99 V reg 306HDI D-Turbo

But being out of different sides of the city I could really only do one.
Not really doing the miles for the deisel but at these prices the excuse of "it's more to buy" isn't coming into play. And not sure if I would see much savings of higher fuel price for bigger mpg.
There's also the reliablity, VW is typically better while the pug would (i think) be cheaper to repair if anything does go wrong.
I like both, but weirdly, the 2.0 engine seems the least powerful in the golf line up.

Yeah, just realised no milage after posting.
Golf that slow? Only realised recently the price they seem to be in and how insurance isn't as much as I thought it would be, so it's only a new consideration. And enjoy the VW vans we have at work, but they are 60 plate things so older VW's may be crap.
I though the HDi engine was pretty silent, not prestige car deisel smooth but decent for an every day thing. Guy in a unit or two down has an older engined d-turbo and that's proper tractor sounding!
Just kinda desperate for a car, but also looking out for a Leons, Focus' and sort of Accords too.
See, car choice all over the place, but I don't think at this budget I can be picky.

Fair enough. I knew these GTi's were bassically just a badge instead of an engine and chasis, but didn't know they were that bad.
What about the non turbo 1.8? What are they like?

Said the 1.8 was 125bhp and the 2.0 was115bhp.
