******* OFFICAL La Liga Thread *******

If Jose wins the champion league this season I still believe it to be a very good season.

I don't see no team past Barca even Real couldn't do them with Jose managing them.

Barca just seem to free score all the time xavi, iniesta, messi, villa and pedro are
just on another wavelength at the moment.

Mourinho will quit citing excuses about the board and not being able to bring in his own players etc, when realistically he was coming to La Liga to beat Barca, hasn't (or very likely wont), and his ego can't handle it.

I know loosing to Barcelona is nothing to be ashamed of, but I think we were all expecting a slightly closer run race than this. Not only are they 7 points behind (which may as well be 20 when you're chasing Barcelona), but there is a twenty six goal difference after twenty one games!! I mean, really?!

You can practically say Barca are 8 points ahead, due to the 5-0 win over Madrid.

There is no way Madrid will win 5/6-0 at the Bernebau, regardless if Adebayor is playing like a demon.

Mourinho spent his money incredibly badly, completely his fault, no more excuses frankly.

Real have some, semi decent midfielders and they have the likes of Diarra, he wasted money on Khedira, who apart from being utterly useless in his role, is half the player Diarra is and took money away from vastly more needed positions.

Marcelo/Ramos can't defend for poop, Arbeloa is only marginally better, Di Maria is like Malouda, can only play well when the whole team is clicking. Alonso spent the last 30 minutes of that game rather than calmly influencing the players around him and PASSING the ball forwards, just lumping it long, which produced nothing at all. Ozil's form has seemingly dissappeared, again for Germany he was great when the other players were great, when the team wasn't working perfectly he vanished while others tried incredibly hard and were still decent.

Real needed to sort their defence, sell Benzema, buy a real back up striker for Higuain and not waste money on area's they had covered in depth. Gago and a few of the others weren't the worlds best players, but Gago for instance was a hugely better midfielder than Marcelo is a defender. I mean, in the Real/Barca game, Khedira, Alonso, Marcelo, Ramos, Di Maria and Ozil was abysmal, the defensive players just made mistake after mistake after mistake, and the two wingers simply dissappeared. Gago/Diarra would have been FAR better in that game, for experience and strength, and had they spent the Khedira/Di Maria money on two full backs who could defend, maybe the game would have been completely different. Real have far too many weak positions and they strengthed in completely the wrong places.

Mourinho needed to come in and completely turn the defence around, but bought mostly attacking players, and too many of them young, inexperienced and not Ronaldo types, guys who can drag the team through a bad performance, which is what the Real side has needed for several years. Too many flash players who can't perform when its really tough.

Di Maria also makes Ronaldo look like a freaking saint on the pitch, Barca have Alves, Real have Di Maria, diving gits the both of them.

Real's board are ridiculous, but then Capello was fired for the dull football, not lack of success. Real see football as entertainment, winning with crap football simply doesn't cut it, thats their choice.

The question is, is Mourinho fully aware of the need for ultra attacking football and he's simply a manager not capable of it? Chelsea by the time he left was a team built on defence, Inter, ultra ultra ultra ultra defensive team, can he actually make a successful attacking team?

Bump, CDR 2nd legs tonight. Wish I could watch about 4-5 games at once!

Almeria to get smashed again. Madrid v.s. Sevilla could still go either way, although with a 1-0 advantage and playing at home you'd expect Real to reach the final.

Barca knock 3 past Almeria playing only Alves and Busquets from strongest XI. (no more Masch stuff please; Who will start against Arsenal? he won't)

Barca were flying last season but came undone against a very good and well organised Inter side. So wouldn't say it's 100% on anyone getting to the final.

Inter were superb tactically in the 1st leg and, while a bit lucky, defensively amazing in the 2nd, especially considering they were down to 10 men for most of the game. I thought after the game that, in a way, Barca might have had a far better chance of winning the tie had Busquets not cheated his way into getting their player sent off since the red card changed Inter from a team who were looking to soak up pressure and hit on the counter, to a team parking a very stubborn bus and not venturing out of the defensive 1/3 of the pitch at all.

Nearly every team gets chances to score against Barca as most of their team is parked in the opposition's half all the time, it's just most teams seem to lack either the composure or belief to take said chances, and get out scored at the other end anyway. When we lost at the Nou last year, at 1-0 we had a great chance to get a second, which could have planted at least a small seed of doubt in their minds, but instead it was fluffed and then punishment was duly dished out at the other end. At 2-0 we may have still got thumped eventually but you rarely see Barca go behind twice. Get the impression there's only a few managers who go into games against them feeling certain that they can win if their team does things properly. Old Jose is obviously the best example, although his Madrid team at the moment look as capable as Inter did in his first season there when United made them look silly.

It's likely that Barcelona won't have to make an 18 hour coach trip before this years semi-final though. ;)

AND Bump in to my cousin on the way ;)

My cousin's child had a kick about with the players and such. Depressing. He's not even 10 and has played football with Messi.
