***Official 2010 F1 thread***

Austin will be an alright place to have a gp (im basing this ENTIRELY on King of the Hill) there's more than enough people that will go out and watch the race (im basing that entirely in comparison to Turkey that hopefully wont get its race renewed as this weekend will be embarrassing with the stands empty again) and im sure they'll put it somewhere that can actually have an interesting track design (opposed to something just "clever" like in China)

Oh so toyota had a dick dasterdly style smoke screen on that car!! No wonder they pulled out when they got to the point that copying wacky races was the only way to try and win....

pretty big FAIL for Bernie if two (out of three) teams fall to the wayside before the end of the season

Its not like it would cost him that much money comparatively anyway (I bet he's lost more down the back of the sofa :D)

No doubt he will benefit from it too :p

Well, sure. Would be a bit strange for a businessman to not make money out of a deal wouldn't it?

I'll have to dig my copy of "Life At The Limit" again for the actual quotes, but I'm sure this post sums up my feelings about Bernie and this forum's antagonism towards him. For every bad thing he's done to this sport (and there have been a few, no question) there have been ten that were very good indeed. And especially the behind-the-scenes stuff, like getting hold of the Prof when Frank Williams had that crash that paralysed him.

hell probably give them the #3 ferrari car

*sigh*

and this forum's antagonism towards him.

I don't think anyone on the forum (well at least not the regulars) have a problem with him? We may joke about him and get a little nervous each time the British GP contract comes up for renewal but thats it.

Bernie has been fantastic for F1. He has been a driving factor in keeping F1 "up there" in terms of viewing audiences and popularity.

He had not got involved, it is quite possible that F1 audiences could've dwindled over time and gradually (due to low audiences), sponsorship would've fallen to such a point where many teams wouldn't even bother racing.

well its obviously what ferrari are hoping for they seem desperate for a third car especially since they said they are keen to work with an american team who could run the third card.
(HRT arent american but was sarcastic)
ferrari arent stupid they know bernie is desperate to crack america and an american track + american team that has a ferrari car will do well and make bernie big bucks

If they had the money they could just start up another team? "Ferrari USA Racing" or some such nonsense... part-financed by Bill Gates and some oil tycoons :)

Stick Scott Speed & Danica Patrick in there, then keep Fred and The Doctor in the A-Team. Job done.

:p

As much as Tilke's track designs annoy me, i was under the impression that when building new tracks theres a lot of limitations and restrictions (ie there has to be run off area, good viewing area for supporters etc)

.... especially the behind-the-scenes stuff, like getting hold of the Prof when Frank Williams had that crash that paralysed him.

There could have been wholly business related reasons for doing that even way back when......if anything FW was much more important back then than he is now

I would HOPE its just for humanitarian /friendly reasoning - but thats the problem with Bernie - you can never be totally sure!!!

Yeah, you've posted that one before Frank, the last time I got into a stoush on here about BE. It drew a massive '' IRL both times.

I'm sure Bernie is fine with being thought of as Satan incarnate though. After all, he did tell the Prof 'Say anything decent about me, and I'll sue you'.

Slightly off topic and nobody will actually care but I've decided to support Webber full time.

He's been one of my "other" following's for a while now. I like the team and I like the car but I've always been torn because as a Brit I feel like a should be supporting Hamilton and Button and certainly not an Aussie.

Every time Hamilton opens his mouth I feel like he's lying to my face. I know all of them are stuck behind the PR tape but he annoys the hell out of me.

Button is okay, I just don't think he's that charismatic which I would say the same for Mclaren.

Every time Hamilton opens his mouth I feel like he's lying to my face.

And that is why I believe he will go far in this sport.

Its no good just being good on the track. You have to be cunning and know how to lie and when to break the rules.

Unfortunately for Hamilton he has been caught breaking a the rules (Aus last year). When he becomes really good at it, he will break the rules and get away with it scott-free.

When it comes to great driving on the track and knowing when to lie and break the rules, MS was the best. Senna also broke the rules, but he was more blatant, in your face.
