Penalty from that view. Hamilton didn’t leave enough space on the outside.

Edit - LH had space but was tight at the apex, as the corner opens he needed to keep to the inside line. Instead he has pushed towards the outside line and collided with Perez. No idea whether it was traction or steering though. You assume it would be steering for a penalty, but who knows with stewards decisions.

He kind of squeezed Hamilton on to the inside kerb at which point the Hamilton loses traction. They've definitely taken in to account Perez's ruined race.
Well then the stewards are at their inconsistent best again because the outcome as per the rules should not factor in deciding if a drive is liable for a penalty.

Seems pretty clear to me, Hamilton hits inside kerb, understeers and goes into his sidepod. An unfortunate racing incident in tough conditions but because it damaged Perez's car and race it seems a fairly normal penalty.

Yea, I initially thought it was harsh, but seeing that in slo-mo there was plenty of room for Hamilton, he under steered into the side of Perez.

Being a wet(ish) track is an explanation not an excuse.

I didn't ask for a harsher penalty. Don't make things up.
This is what you typed
Only a 5 second penalty for taking someone out of the race is pretty lenient. He went into the side of Perez and had loaddds of space.
What do you mean by this statement then? Maybe my English is not very good but that reads a harsher penalty should have been given.

Racing incident for me, Perez squeezes Hamilton to the inside as he's entitled to do, Hamilton ends up with wheels on the kerb, looks to lose a bit of grip and this causes him to drift outwards and into Perez.

If you're ascribing blame and penalties to situations like that then you may as well give up on the idea such a thing as a 'racing incident' can happen in F1.

I agree and the places he was dropping right and left were because of his shagged tires not the sidepod damage... :D

It means that Hamilton can consider himself lucky that ruining someone's race only costs him 5 seconds. Especially as everyone was going crazy that he even dare be given a penalty at all.

It seems now that people have seen the replay they've come to realise that a penalty is indeed correct.

have you read the rules? a 5s penalty is one of the standard options, its usually 5-10 depending on the severity of the incident. 5 is the lower end of the scale
