I guess the problem for a lot of people is that we had 7 years of rule from Merc and all we've done is switch the team at the top who look ominously better than the rest after just a year. (Also after being promised that the new rules would make it all better...:o)
Probably what we need a smaller reg changes. Assuming at least Merc and AM catch RB in a year or two, not overhauling the regs would see more years of closer racing.

2026 reg changes seem to be an evolution instead of an overhaul so we might get some closer racing for longer.

I'm pretty close to cancelling f1tv. I'm getting bored of watching full length races. Kind of want to go back to c4 highlights.
The pre/post race shows have dropped off a bit in quality. There was a squash match filler today.

I just need them to raise prices. Which will push me over the edge

The simple answer here is “Checo”. With past dominant teams, often a teammate offered some resistance, which helped pad the points gap, but Perez has clearly missed something.

I can’t see them not swapping him out next year, so maybe we’ll see more competition then.
Yes, I realise that Perez is utterly underperforming at the moment which isn't helping but it makes for boring TV whilst he's still there and Max trots off into the sunset at every race and quali.

Lol, you think Merc didn’t hold back during their years. Love how just because it’s RB, people lose their minds.
As others have posted above - Hamilton was kept on his toes a lot more than Verstappen is. Not just by Rosberg and Bottas but by others in opposing teams. This came up in another thread and the points differences over the Merc years show a lot closer results than those with alliances to RB would care to admit.

I often stuck up for Perez, but as above he is not helping the situation.

Again, half the problem is we were promised better racing when actually 2021 was some of the best racing we’ve ever seen, now all we get are DRS drive bys and a leader that can pull away by 0.5-1sec a lap when he feels like it.

Good job from Albon. Only watched highlights but it didn’t seem Verstappen was quite as far ahead this race, the gap took a while to develop after the safety car.

Next rule changes needs to knock 1/3 off car size
I honestly think they should bring back refuelling. That would allow a smaller fuel tank (so smaller car) and the different strategies across the teams (and more pit stops) would spice it up. They could also remove the high voltage energy stuff, that would make it smaller and lighter.

My realistic hope is that they sign Lando to Checo’s seat. Think he would spice things up if the other teams can’t compete with RB.
If Lando doesn’t move soon, he’ll age out of F1. McLaren have been in shambles for years - the only think Brown managed was to get sponsors back, but the dude is a bit of a tool.

My money is on RIC replacing PER.

Yep, could become another Hulk.

I do think he’s the most talented driver outside of RB, Merc, AM or Ferrari.

He's only 23 and probably one of the most desirable drivers on the grid. I'm sure he'll be just fine. Alonso is still driving at the top level and he's 42 next month.
Alonso has a history though. I’m not saying Landon couldn’t find another team, but he’s better off moving now than later.

Ferrari is probably out of the question, and they’re already busy destroying LEC career. At Merc he could replace Lewis when he retires, AM I guess Alonso but realistically he should replace Stroll. Not sure whether RB will take him but they really need a second driver who is at least 85% as good as Max.

Seemed like quite a few decent battles down the grid, but as usual because Max/Red Bull won that's an immediate downvote from some here:(

I think the lack of a battle for the lead is worth a downvote - it is always more exciting to see a fight over who wins - but it's a point or two for me. I think the bigger problem this season is that the races are currently feeling rather irrelevant in the bigger picture. Unless something changes dramatically we already know who wins the WDC so each feels less significant - and the sheer glut of races in the modern calendar doesn't help that either.

I still enjoy watching the lower field battles, but it's not as riveting as a title battle.

I’m not saying Lando couldn’t find another team, but he’s better off moving now than later.

Not least because if he sticks around, everyone is going to see that Piastri is the better driver once he's got a little experience :)
