After verstappen took the title against Hamilton did the stewards not say they couldn't change who finished where?

If so how do they explain Alonso??
Ones a penalty.
One was asking for a grid change post race without any penalty to be applied to either race affected.

Not on recent performances. However I suspect he'd be a perfect replacement for Perez. Being 0.2/0.3 behind Lando was the difference between P9 and P17. Being 0.2/0.3 behind Max is P2, and no dramas.
The way the car drives will also be a factor. That McLaren seems terrible but Lando has grown-up with it, whereas look at Ric in Renault and RB.

Who ran an illegal steering system?

You can't really argue against Red Bull pushing the limits as all teams do it and most things people moan about were never deemed illegal even if they were questionable. This applies to most teams though as it's quite rare for new parts to actually be deemed illegal.

We can't mention them but Red Bull and people within the team picked up their nicknames for a reason and that's what rubs me, and I think others, the wrong way. Their holier than thou yet they're one of the top teams for pushing limits.

I mean the same thing happens in football - some dude fakes that he was tackled too hard to force a penalty.

Every team will be looking for the advantage, while preserving their brand presence.

Who ran an illegal steering system?
I'm assuming @cuke2u is referring to DAS although it was never ran illegally unless Mercedes ran it in (races in) '21 and i don't think there was any evidence that suggested they did other Mercedes continuing R&D on it

Edit - Saying that, i think there was rear-wheel steering in the early 90s but that got banned pre-season iirc. Could be wrong but McLaren's third pedal is the only illegal steering system i can think of that entered races.

And the punishments are usually very serious. Not a slap on the wrist like some more recent transgressions..
Who got a slap on the wrist? I know RB had a decent development cut, which was fair relative to the overspend.

Ferrari was a slap on the wrist for the engine thing.

Both and the punishment isn't supposed to be fair it's supposed to stop others trying it on as well as ensure there's no question the team got an unfair advantage from the rule breaking
A punishment should be fair in how it offsets the breach, which it was.
