So apparently Toto said "And thank you for sticking with what we wanted to do this weekend, with setups and parts.." to GR over the radio after the race yesterday.

No drama from me because this isn't f1 twt, but it'd be interesting to see how much Hamilton could have done had he had the "good" parts all season too..

He’d have most certainly been fighting for podiums way more often.

Shamelessly stolen from Reddit, but an interesting parallel:

Lewis Hamilton's last race for McLaren - Brazil 2012:
- Red Bull's multiple-time world champion (Vettel) spins on the opening lap and recovers to P6
- Sergio Perez retires on lap 1
- A British driver (Button) wins for McLaren
- A Spanish driver (Alonso) finishes in P2 for Ferrari
- The other Ferrari (Massa) takes P3

Lewis Hamilton's last race for Mercedes - Abu Dhabi 2024:
- Red Bull's multiple-time world champion (Verstappen) spins on the opening lap and recovers to P6
- Sergio Perez retires on lap 1
- A British driver (Norris) wins for McLaren
- A Spanish driver (Sainz) finishes in P2 for Ferrari
- The other Ferrari (Leclerc) takes P3

One of the easiest overtakes Lewis has had to do...

Watch the fan footage taken from outside, the onboard shown on TV doesn't really give a proper impression of it. It was a cracking overtake.

Might Russell have defended harder against another driver, maybe, but we've seen plenty of overtakes that were waved through way more than that not to mention every candy from a baby DRS overtake.

Lewis had softer gripper tyres, Russell obliged as instructed. Simple...

Oh you guys :D

Even if Russell did make it easy it doesn't change how close they were on points, when all the anti-LH brigade were saying that Russell would show him up. Guess what, he didn't. The stats prove it.
I'm not disagreeing, but look also at the qualifying stats..

He only really won on points because the two times he won, George retired/dq’d, otherwise George has more “wins” in terms of finishing position. You’d expect more from him.

Will see what happens next year but Ferrari probably wasted their money.

Yes, Lewis had made his tyre strategy work better than Russell did, despite having to fight through the field and being on the opposite strategy to the first choice of every other driver on the grid. Doesn't make that pass any less impressive.

Russell was only told to fight fair - which he did.

There was no fight, clearly the message fromToto to Russell was code to let Lewis through. I'm giving George due credit for doing so...
