McLaren seem to be pushing the flex limit on both front and rear wings. Surprised (not really) that the FIA aren’t doing anything.

They have their own mini DRS.

Is there footage from other cars.
At the speeds these cars are doing wings have to flex... it's a question of how much is allowed and that is currently policed by the static load tests.

There was a clip of the Ferrari, which didn’t do this. I’m sure the teams will notice and report it if it’s illegal.

The FIA load tests have always been a little lacking, and this isn’t the first time parts have passed the test but still flex too far at high speed.

Would explain why Charles struggled to overtake with DRS and less than 6 tenths of a gap.

A track that pretty much only has one overtaking spot.
Just on this - it was surprising that even though this whole track is focused around that long straight and T1 for overtakes it basically seemed almost impossible, unless you were 0.5s away leaving the final corner to actually overtake into T1.

The FIA have installed camera's in practices to check on the flex and stated the wings are within the rules however they are still evaluating the data and any rule changes would not happen until 2025 if necessary.

Today the Mclarens were running with a lower downforce package than the Ferrari's thus it would have been difficult for Charles anyway

That’s the front wing though; this is the rear wing giving them free DRS; otherwise looks like they’ve found a good loophole to get them through the season. Usually these things are cut short.

Wonder if they’ll leave it to the end of the season to “clarify” the rules to ban it.

Race of the season for me.
Kept saying.. Theres going to be an accident!

Piastris move on leclerc was insane. Didn't think it was on!
Great drives by both of them.

Such a shame about sainz and perez. Esdor perez.

Great recovery by norris. To. Finish above verstappen must have felt like a win!

Oh, and bearman and especially Colipinto. Thank goodness Sargent is gone!

Isn't this just classic F1 rule bending though? I remember years ago Red Bull used some sort of system to lift the plank higher so they could in effect run lower without wearing the plank. They basically used the fact that some metals expanded quicker when heated to pivot the plank upwards. Obviously couldn't be tested because at rest the plank height and its mounting were normal. Its not like you could run along side while it was in action. :D

I also think we had this with front wings a while back and in the end the other teams just copied the bendier ones.

FIA are very selective in how they apply their rules. They’ve had no issue with screwing RB and Ferrari in the past, but it’s not like they’re known for their consistency.

I mean it’s obviously passing the flex test but seems the test doesn’t hit the right angle or component that’s causing the DRS to open. From the clip it seems more prominent on the outer part.

Race is over my man, none are even going anywhere near VSC delta's.
Same feeling if the drivers were reversed?

I thought the rules under the vsc also say no overtaking. I don't see why that would end just because the race ends..?

Dangerous situations and people/cars on track don't magically disappear once the chequered flag flies.

The stewards response seems fair too:

A warning and reminding them it's not allowed is fair. I imagine penalties will be handed out if it happens again.
