Did Nando congratulate Oscar at park ferme? i see Nando go to the team and hi five them and then walk passed Oscar.

There was a shot of him approaching Oscar just as Oscar has celebrated with the team and they just kept on showing the team gawping at the driver's, it was quite frustrating.

No actual Safety Car for another race. I was surprised how long it took for an incident today, especially with two rookies at a tough circuit. Great to see close gaps and multiple teams in the running. It's been a great season so far.

Wonder if they’ll leave it to the end of the season to “clarify” the rules to ban it.
Of course they will. Total bs it's very clear that it's well beyond the scope of any other car.

They've come down on other teams so much quicker, but willing to look the other way on this one because 'muh entertainment'

They both did really well to be fair to them. Funny how it took two relative veterans to give us the VSC. lol

Race is over my man, none are even going anywhere near VSC delta's.
Same feeling if the drivers were reversed?

Drivers always radio in other drivers breaking the rules, it's practically part of the enforcement system. I'm not judging anyone for it, because they all do it.

I thought the rules under the vsc also say no overtaking. I don't see why that would end just because the race ends..?

Dangerous situations and people/cars on track don't magically disappear once the chequered flag flies.

The cars run much more slowly so the danger is much less, though, and different drivers run at very different speeds so staying in line in line is more difficult, but also is it really overtaking when the race is already over and it doesn't change position? I can see why they thought the VSC didn't apply.

The stewards response seems fair too:

Yeah, I agree.

The capacity these drivers have to process information while touching 200 mph is insane. One example that stood out was a radio message from Lando's engineer along the lines of "Imagine Andrea sitting on your shoulder saying the words "Zero wheel spin off every corner"".

It obviously works for him to get messages like that but it would drive me insane! I think I'd struggle with that guy sat next to me talking me through driving up the M6 let alone threading through the streets of Baku.

Great race though. Proper team strategy leveraging one driver to benefit another. Gripping to the end... More of that please!

Oh, and shame about Perez and Sainz. Perez was finally in a position to play his role of picking up the spoils when Max was off the pace for the first time in 11 races and it ends up with him in the wall.

James Vowles has got to be feeling justified with his decision to replace Sergeant - but it's mad that it took this long. It took Colapinto 2 races to score more points than Sergeant scored in over 35.

I expect he is. But Williams has also had a big upgrade at the same time, Albon has had two of his best results of the season in those 2 races so it's not really a fair comparison, but - of course - it was Logan smashing up the car with those new upgrades that was the final straw so...

I've been impressed by Colapinto too, I didn't think he was particularly impressive in F2 but he's dropped into F1 with impressive poise. It's a pity he's almost certain to be sidelined at the end of the season. Makes me wonder how much Albon has been flattered by Latifi and Logan?

Isn't this just classic F1 rule bending though? I remember years ago Red Bull used some sort of system to lift the plank higher so they could in effect run lower without wearing the plank. They basically used the fact that some metals expanded quicker when heated to pivot the plank upwards. Obviously couldn't be tested because at rest the plank height and its mounting were normal. Its not like you could run along side while it was in action. :D

I also think we had this with front wings a while back and in the end the other teams just copied the bendier ones.
Well the footage is available to the FIA as well, unless other teams protest I cannot see them being involved anyway..

The videos of the McLaren rear wing coming out today are very interesting, something very trick/clever going on there. Would love to know more, seems like they've found a classic F1 loop hole and are using it to great affect.

I watched the qualifying lap comparison between Charles and Oscar, and the Ferrari had a couple extra KPH down, the main straight, obviously with DRS.

They definitely have something going on between that rear wing and the multi-element front wing flex thing (Ferrari seem to have this now too).

Yeah that Williams has had an upgrade and Monza and Baku are two tracks I'd have expected them to do pretty well at anyway if recent years are a guide.

Good point on Albon though; many people have almost been fawning over how good he is but if Colapinto can come in and not just match him but beat him; you have to wonder how good Albon really is.

Yeh, regular crashing is a big problem for a smaller/lower down the standings team.

I guess in the end it was just causing them too much money. Same sort of thing happened with Mick and Haas.

If Logan was crashing that much but showing immense speed and promise they may have stuck with him, but he never really looked that quick either.

They all make mistakes occasionally, but at this level you can't keep putting it in the wall regularly.

Particularly in practice sessions too, I think that was always the issue with Mick. I can think of at least 3 times off the top of my head (Jeddah, Monaco and Japan) where he had huge crashes in FP sessions and then isn't able to make qualifying. The Monaco one was something like a 700k cost to it as well.

It's all cost cap, and IIRC all teams are now spending at the cap, so I'm not sure the size of the team matters.

Right up until Logan's last crash, it was Albon who was costing the team more - at least according to the totting up of the World Destructors' Championship. In fact, Albon has a pretty dreadful record across all his seasons in F1. The combination of two crash happy drivers and Logan's lack of delivery was probably what really did for him. That and promptly dropping the upgrade.

The videos of the Mclaren rear wing... are we talking about this:
