Nissan, via their Infiniti Engineering Academy had some involvement with Renault F1, but I don't think the Nissan brand has done much if anything in F1.

I guess given that Renault have been involved in F1 for so long and they and Nissan have been intertwined since '99 there's been little to no point in Nissan even considering it

Not that I am aware no. Lots of sports car racing and Le Mans activity, but not F1 that I am aware of.

According to the entry list, it looks like it is Russell get replaced. Presumably they'll alternate who gets swapped out?

Drivers get to choose don't they? So they pick one FP1 session each where they're replaced, it's entirely up the driver/team to decide when they do it.

Each driver must give up one FP1 per season to a junior driver.

I know Toto didn't want to risk losing out if Kimi was a phenom but it feels like they're piling the pressure onto this young kid to replace one of the, statistically speaking, greatest drivers ever
