The Race have a piece about it - tl;dr: they want to calibrate their models against wind tunnel data. I think that makes sense going into the off season and preparing for next year and the year after.

Redbull trying to keep the driver championship entertaining by allegedly bringing the wrong rear wing to Vegas.
I read that, I'm sure someone will be flying to Vegas with a rear wing sized carry on for Max as we speak. Despite Helmut claiming they are stuck.

Its a non-issue, still will get clicks. The wing is no doubt already on its way to America.
To be fair last time I flew to the US (LAX) I queued for like 2.5hrs to get through immigration as well
Americans are more like their communist enemies than they think; they love paperwork, being jobsworths and half the time have super antiquated technology running the show too 
My boss wasn’t impressed when my car service was $100s more than it should have been after that, since they charged me waiting time.
