I keep thinking this every time it happens, but they really need to look at the tyre change rules under red flag conditions.

Seems to put a lot of fortuitous luck on those that manage to benefit under those conditions, and very unfair to others that strategise when to otherwise make a stop.
It is difficult because equally stopping under VSC or safety car is a massive bonus. Not sure how to ban red flag changes but keep safety car. I guess you could close the pit lane until the grid has formed up or allowed by FIA.

Nonsense. Hamilton has had a rubbish car in the last 3 years.

and ? he's still made more mistakes and performed below the level he expects from himself, particularly in qualifying. I rate him as one of the greatest drivers of all time and the best of his generation and would be delighted for him to show he's still as good as he was in 2021 when he joins Ferrari but if you are basing drivers performances over the past few seasons he has not been performing at the level you would expect (for whatever reasons). If he goes back to beast mode at Ferrari then I won't be that surprised. No need to get so defensive.

The engineered title to Max preventing him from winning his 8th title and the abysmal car of the following two seasons has left Lewis deflated

Now it’s like a marriage or a partner you are leaving, the longer it drags out the more resentment sets in.

Lewis has a poor car and it’s understandable Mercedes are going to favour George but Lewis has lost something this season, I believe he will regain that spark at Ferrari but for him, the sooner the season ends the better.

Lewis is disillusioned, the car is not great but he isn’t giving 100% either

One of the random things I noticed in this race was one of the #1 mechanics who had worked at Red Bull for absolutely years, was always at the front of the celebrations and always on TV was now wearing Sauber overalls.

Likely pinched by Audi with a pay rise, but man that must suck going from the front of the grid, winning races/championships.. All the way to the back.

*edit*

Quick google, seems hes now Chief Mechanic at Sauber.

Lee ?

It'll be clear very quickly next season if Lewis still has it or not; its clear he's pretty fed up this season after 3 years in a crap car and he does seem to have checked out.

That mixed in with the likely case he's now not being invited to a lot of the engineering meetings now and other stuff to plan for 2025.

He's had amazing times with Mercedes, but now it's like an awkward split.

This could well be accurate and I hope it is. If Hamilton was still in his mid-30s I'd feel a lot more confident in him being able to turn it on again at Ferrari. He's nearly 40 though and well past the age where drivers' raw speed starts to decrease due to reduced reaction times etc. I can't think of any drivers who were as good/quick at 40 as they were earlier in their career. Then there is the unknown of whether the car will suit his driving style or be more tailored to Leclercs, can Hamilton get his mojo back instantly? will it take time ? lots of factors at play.

If he does walk in and instantly start beating Leclerc then fair play, it would change my skepticism as to whether he's still on the same level as back in 2021.

Anyone who thinks Lewis doesn't still have it should pay attention to his mid-season results this year. There's no doubt he can still step up. The question for me is whether he can still deliver the utter consistency required at the absolute top level.

Sorry if this has been posted but.... what an absolute clown

What was he thinking? Stroll is no newbie, how did he not realise he needed to take the recovery road round the gravel trap?
