Nice score Chaparral ;).

Did you overclock more on the non stock run?. You have higher "Physics" and "Combined" scores.

I'm a bit new to this so could someone tell me if the following are acceptable scores for my rig (see sig.)

3DMark Score - P3291
Graphics score - 3257
Physics score - 3642
Combined score - 3094
Graphicstest1 - 14.99 FPS
Graphicstest2 - 15.46FPS
Graphicstest3 - 19.7 FPS
Graphicstest4 - 9.97 FPS
Physicstest - 11.56 FPS
Combinedtest - 14.39 FPS

This is with the free 3DMark11 version and therefore is with all the settings at default (as you cant change them without upgrading obviously!)

Thanks for any feedback since the gfx card is a new one and I wanted to make sure it was operating OK! (3DMark 06 score went from 13065 on my GTX260 to 14233 on the GTX460 SC!)

Cheers,

StevieP

StevieP. Your 3dmark11/06 scores is in line with your setup so no worries there.

Your Q6600 (clocked low at only 2.7GHz for some reason?) has more to give but pointless unless you try pushing your 460GTX more as that is the weaker link in terms of your overall score. With 3dmark11, you'd expect your graphics score to be higher than the CPU score but you can clearly see the feisty 460GTX is holding you back a little bit. Don't worry about it or think about getting another GPU as your 600W PSU won't cope.

Just thought, why not use your 260GTX for dedicated Physx use to get use out of it?

;) I changed my memory speed from 1333mhz to 1600mhz which knocked up my physics & combined score ;)

Both tests were done with my CPU at 4400 or 4600mhz...(but can't remember which speed)..

Thanks for the reply, good to know my score is just about where it shoudl be! :)

Regards to the other advice, I am gonna try pushin my 460 with the supplied EVGA software but I think its already factory overclocked (SC stands for superlocked I think!)
Definitely gonna ramp up my Q6600 a bit more but I'm fairly new to overclocking so gonna take it slow!

My GTX260 is being sold on to a mate but I'm intrigued to know how to use it as a dedicated Physx card? How would that work??

Thanks again....

Yip, SC simply means superclocked.

And if your using the 260GTX for Physx, you need to simply install it in the second PCIe slot (your 460GTX is the main GPU) and leave it running as a single GPU.

As i'm not using a Nvidia GPU, I'm not sure where these options are exactly in the Nvidia Control panel, but you need to set the follow options for use on your 260GTX:-
-Set PhysX GPU acceleration: Enabled on GeForce 260GTX
- Select an SLI configuration: Do not use SLI*
*may already be disabled because your not using the SLI bridge to connect another GPU.

Before your start to overclock your CPU, make sure your current temps are below 60c under load, otherwise you'll lock up your system. Don't try pushing it if your have a stock cooler as this won't dissipate the heat fast enough. Its not worth buying a better CPU cooler because your looking at £20 to start off and gains won't be worth while.

If you run into any issues, I'm sure a fellow Nvidia user will be better able to help. I'd be happy to assist you if you need further help, just message me in future.

Do you know if I will see a noticable difference in real world gaming performance if I use the 260 too then? Any idea if my PSU would cope with having 2 card slotted in??

Regards to the CPU overclocking, my temps seem to idle at 38-40 with my current overclock and jump to 55'ish when gaming - my cooler is a Gelid Tranquillo but I'm by no means an expert at applying thermal paste etc so there is probably room for improvement in my fitting!

Thanks for the advice!!!

Is this correct score for freeware run of 3Dmark11?

http://3dmark.com/3dm11/553060

Intel 2500k (4.7ghz)
2x2gb 1600 9,9,9,24 T1
Inno3D 460 1gb 880/2100

3DMark Score -- P4170
Graphics score -- 3851
Physics Score -- 8660
Combined Score -- 3609
GraphicsTest1 -- 17.58 FPS
GraphicsTest2 -- 18.26 FPS
GraphicsTest3 -- 23.68 FPS
GraphicsTest4 -- 11.77 FPS
PhysicsTest -- 27.49 FPS
CombinedTest -- 16.79 FPS

Also should i place the physics on to the CPU or leave it on the CPU via nvidia's control panel options?

Yes, you will see improvements in the many games that have Physx support, two of my favourite games Batman: AA, Mafia II has the support and will improve your framerates. Otherwise for Ati users, we turn off Physx and lose the effects or just play it on Low. Your 460GTX alone needs a 450 PSU, then the 260GTX needs 550W PSU. Your better off not killing your PSU exceeding the rating supply and get a PSU with SLI support. Again, not worth doing for the outlay.

Yip, right 3dmark version. Most Nvidia users leave the Physx as default on the GPU - skews results when compared to Ati users as your Physics/CPU score will be higher - but its whatever gets the most 3dmarks. Try either and see what difference it makes in 3dmark11.

Should make no difference as physics are handled with direct compute :)

Managed to tweak the clocks on the 470 another 50mhz to 900 stable :) scored 5215 overall score

I've got a similar setup to yourself and easily clocked the 2600k to 4.4GHz. Don't know why the link didn't show 4.4GHz though but here's the CPU-Z link.

Your GPU score though was double of mine (5970@780/1090MHz GPUZ) which is amazing :), is your clocks really that much higher than mine? It's great though if the addition of 1 5870 to your 5970 has managed help you double the score.

From memory my cpu was either 5 gig or 5.2 and the 5970 was overclocked to match the clocks of my stock 5870.
