I put my 6990 with a 6970 together to make a 3-gpu crossfirex system and overclocked all of them. my cpu is Xeon L5640 running @ 3.94g. it scored better than a 6990 quadfire system. :D

Yes, it is odd that 6990 CF doesn't scale too well and you'd be better off with one for the average gamer. Still an amazing score :)

From my best 3d11 score in my records you can see your 6990+6970 is two and three times faster (under Detailed Scores) than a 10% oc'd 5970 - http://3dmark.com/compare/3dm11/636115/3dm11/819272

What is your system wattage draw now (I'd guess 750w full load) and what score did you get with a single 6990?

this look right for two 6950s unlocked in xfire? Ive seen similar rigs get far more than this :(

Is it because 3dmark tests the CPU heavily, therefor my rig wont be able to compete with I7 rigs for this benchmark?

I would say that looks right if 6950s unlocked are stock or slightly above stock clocks. Remember most people here post their initial results without oc'ing components too much, then later on you will see really good results which is what your comparing to. My graphics score is only 7,500 compared to your 10K - and it was only in December that Locky passed the 10K mark with 480sli

3dmark11 isn't CPU dominant as it used to be, if your GPU is great and your CPU isn't, this won't affect your scores as much anymore compared to Vantage/3dmark06, etc. This is why you can just compare the graphics scores than CPU results as they are separate.

In future its best to post a comparison link :) ( 3dmark.com/3dm11/914302 ) for more details rather than having to type it out from an image.
