****OFFICIAL****3D Mark 11 Benchmarks Results Thread

HAHA thanks guys!

Might be a really dumb question but exactly how do I overclock a graphics card properly as I haven't really done it before. Will doing this create a vast amount more heat or shorten its life?

I have the Gigabyte 7970 OC edition which has the Windforce three fan cooler and the clocks are defaulted to 1000mhz and 1375mhz.

Right click on your desktop and open Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and select the performance tab on the left column, tick the accept box, then select AMD OverDrive, then slide the GPU clock settings to the far right, 1125. Then slide the memory clock settings to the far right 1525 (I think) and finally the power control setting to the far right +20

Now click apply and close the dialogue box.
Your card is now overclocked
Search on the net for GPU-Z and install
Leave it running in the background when running the benchmark and afterwards you can view the temps that were reached etc.

You shouldn't be getting any overheating or artifacts at these settings, and it won't shorten the life of your card.

Awesome thanks I didn't realise it was quite that easy I might do a before and after with GPU-Z so I can see the difference in temperature.

Also what does the power control slider actually do?

Looks ok, now go into CCC and Max out the clocks and +20% power and retest.

Overclock that 7970 or i will overtake you with my old school GTX 580 ;)

Ok so did just as you suggested and my computer crashes when stressing with MSI afterburner after about 5 minutes the fans are set to auto as well. Is this normal?

on msi afterburner there's a power limit % slider. on Trixx it's called board power. Controls the card voltages I think. It made my card stable at these clocks.
